Hi Debi - you have produced a lovely Villanelle - quite a complicated format and you have done so well by using words that do not sound at all contrived when repeating them in the various stanzas. 'He restores my soul' - lovely - like the line from the 23rd Psalm 'He restoreth my soul'. Perfect picture. This would have been a good entry for a Faith poem contest. Lovely read. Warm regards Dorothy x

Thank you, Dorothy. You are spot on for the inspiration. I did take the "He restoreth my soul," line from the 23rd Psalm and just updated it to the more modern "restores". I did find the Villanelle an interesting form and challenging. I took a poetry form class from Brooke last year and was amazed at the number of different poetry forms there are. I've been trying out a few just for fun.
Thank you for the gracious comments abut the writing. I appreciate the encouragement. Debi

Very well written and telling. Religion is about feeling and knowing He is looking out for us.
For He reaches out with love and charity,
and if I look, I'll find He's always there.
Nicely done... John

I think that is the beauty of religion, not if what is said actually happens or not, but how it makes you feel. This is well written.
Take care.
Christelle.

Each one is touched with Divinity
One by one He comes in Majesty
So your poem does say so well
In each of our personal life He comes to last
Well done to remind a miserable crew
This earthly lot that turns from Him
Not seeing He is present here
In every one we meet holding out His hand

This villanelle, He Restores My Soul, simply reminds the readers that God is out there and alive. He came to be our way out and way in.

I love the insightful comment, "He came to be our way out and way in." It would make a great line in a poem, but is a profound statement standing alone. Thank you for the wonderful review. Debi

Excellent Poem! The poem flows and connects well. The author's words are heart felt, strong and creative. The reader pondered on the words of this poem. The artwork is perfect and compliments the theme of this poem.

w.j.debi,
when someone attempts a difficult poetic form and executes it flawlessly, it intimidates me!!! Why, because strict adherence to form is daunting to me. It puts me in a straight jacket where there is no wriggle room. You, my friend, have no problem with this poetic form.
Absolutely brilliant and beautiful and emotive.. I am in awe.. jlsavell

You are far too kind with your praise. Last year I took one of Brooke's classes on forms am just experimenting this year. You have no need to be intimidated. I wish I could do free verse as effectively as you do it. I consider that high art.
Thank you for encouraging comments. I appreciate it.
