Hey John. :) What an informative story about baseball and Rodriquez. I don't follow baseball at all, and had never heard about Rodriguez until just now. Sad story indeed. It's too bad the pressure is so high in professional sports some or perhaps even a lot of the players feel the need to take steroids to enhance their performance. I really have no idea how you can stop cheating, unless PEDs are allowed for everyone. Which if they think about it makes no sense, because the drug edge is then lost and everyone is back on an even playing field again. Ach. The problem is, too many cheaters do prosper and that is one of the very sad facts about life.

Anyway you've done a terrific job with your story and given me something else to get all hot under the collar about. So, many thanks for that. :)

Hope your day is going wonderfully well. Keep loving the Yankees and keep on keeping on.

Gloria

Seems like thats the only way I'm able to get women hot is by talkin baseball. What has my life become?

    Hahaha...

Thank you Gloria for sharing and getting hot with me. I'd better stop before I'm slapped through this screen.
    Have a good night!

God know I - knows
I can see why these guys feel pressured to try to stay at the top and go that route and try to enhance. The problem is it is not fair to the rest of the guys, who are out there just working hard. I think they should be suspended for taking enhancements. You have the right to work as hard as you want. You don't have the right to cheat. I have a lot more respect for Derek Jeter, who was a heck of a player and did it the right way. It seemed many of the players had a lot of respect for him as well.

Putting aside the fact I'm a huge Yankee fan, Derek Jeter
Was one of the most respected players for the twenty years in the game. John

Young readers will like this tale. Action flows smoothly. Easy to follow story line. Descriptive language well used throughout. Write on.

It is a sad day when a man who has everything, feels he has to cheat to win more. It is not right, it is setting a bad example to the millions of youngsters who idolized him. I abhor any sportsman who does that. You have written a strong case against this man. I am behind you in that. Well written and a powerfully strong read. :) Sandra

I am not too much of a fan of baseball, but I don't mind it, better than American football (I don't like English soccer much either)My son loved the Mets, we lived in Long Island. I am now back home as I am sure you know. Well written commentary about your favourite team and sport. Good message also about the unfairness of those drugs. I spotted a few errors: Para 2, one of baseball's all time...Para 3, league's rule. Para 5, club's roster. Para 6, player's peers. I hope your team does well this season. Faye

Lucky for you I don't follow baseball because well it bores me. But I did watch parts of the draft for football the past few days. I don't know what to say about A-Rod and his drug use. Does he deserve a second chance? Probably. But should they maybe drug test him a couple extra time periodically? Maybe

As was a Seattle Mariners fan, Mr. Alex dumped us for "money," I have no sympathy for the asshole. Excuse my "French" but he took spots away from players that weren't take drugs, and he leads a horrible personal life style. Sigh, now back to your writing, this is well written and I believe you have an eye for sports writing. I feel your grammar and composition have come a long way. Bravo, and I hope to be able to critique more in the future.

Great story and I agree with you 100%. Everyone is entitled to make their mistakes and learn from them. It takes longer for some than for others. You wrote your point of view with excellent writing. Great job.

-Interesting piece even though I have never been a Yankee's fan; Philly is for me, even though they will probably be in the basement!
-I agree about the use of PED's enhancing a player's ability; these types of players are no role models for our young people.
-One thing I disagree with is that no matter how loyal I was for a team, I could still root for the team, but not the player with a PED record like Alex Rodriguez, but there will always be thousands of opinions on that one!
-I would look over your writing for various grammatical errors, mainly in punctuation. A few examples are:
"the leagues rule" (the league's rule)
" the clubs roster." (the club's)
"How does a players peers feel" (How do player's peers...)

Hi John! I do love reading your baseball stories and essays. I heard about A-Rod going hitless with four whiffs and could hear the boos from the fans. The Cubs have a team of youngsters and are doing okay so far. I have a few things for you to look over and correct if you agree. I'm in the middle of writing a baseball story, too.
Hope you're well.
Smiles,
Karyn :-)

Players have began(begun) the season with tremendous offensive numbers. Some are household names to baseball enthusiasts(,) and others are in the process of making themselves into one. For sure, sluggers are slugging, speedsters are stealing bases,(and) pitchers are pitching deep into games and striking out sluggers at alarming rates.

Earlier this week, one of baseballs(baseball's) all(-)time leading home run hitters

repeat violations of the leagues(league's) rule against performing enhancing(performance-enhancing) drugs (PED's)(PED--'s' is included with drugs). His PED history had been the result of his attempts to remain atop the list of the most successful players in baseball, both current and through(throughout) history.

It's a long road... T-Ball(t-ball), Junior Baseball(junior baseball), Little League, High School(high school), Fall Ball(fall ball), College(college), minor leagues once drafted, winter ball all happens typically before they earn a chance for a position on the clubs(club's) roster.
How does a players(player's) peers feel after taking the high road

He vehemently denied taking and using PED's(PED) countless times

2015 season arrived, so did an apologetic,(no comma) and humbled Alex Rodriguez.

Is it real or a facade.(?)

For now(,) we'll never know.

Our society (is) one of second chances?(.) We are all entitled to make mistakes, realize them, correct them and move forward,(.) God know(knows) I have.

For me, a die(-)hard Yankee fan, I was glad he was suspended for using PED's(PED),

So, Mr. Alex Rodriguez, when you go, 0-6, and (go 0-6 with)four strike outs like you did

I'm a fan and thats(that's)my right.

I love the Yankees and I want to feel the joy of winning... With(with) or without you,

Boy do I suck. Over five years here and all these mistakes. You know what? Time for me to retire my pencil and paper. I should have learned this 45 years ago!! To late for this old-dog. I'm just going to write and keep it to myself.

I didn't think you'd give up on something you so care about. I think I told you a long time ago that some writers write great stories but grammar just isn't their expertise. They're the ones who need an editor or someone to edit. I think I also told you a long time ago to write down the list of mistakes you frequently make and edit before posting. For example ... There/their/they're, change of tense or POV, and plural/possessive. Some things you can easily fix by looking them up...such as words that require hyphens. These aren't huge errors, John. But you know you more than anyone else. I'll be sorry to see you quit posting for the enjoyment of others. You write so well.
