Hi, Shari.
Wow, can I relate to what you're writing about. I'm going through similar things with my father right now. It's not always the easiest situations. He's still living on his own with part-time help.

You were there for your mom, offered her a great home and love. Never feel any kind of guilt for wishing for your time. You did much more than most do!

Bye
Rosalyne :)

Thanks, Rosalyne. I'm in this situation again as my husband's memory is going. He's been diagnosed with vascular dementia, but he says it's just old age. He'll turn 78 Dec. 3rd. Be happy that your father wants to live on his own... or does he? Tough situation. I feel for you.

You're such a giving person! It's so hard both physically and emotionally to watch and care for those we love with dementia.

How wonderful that you will be celebrating his 78th birthday.

My dad is physically in need of full- time care but not ready to move. He too is showing signs of dementia but in complete denial about his health.

    Life is never boring. LOL

Hi Shari,

I'm really surprised that your mother-in-law was the one who introduced you to metaphysical philosophy. I love that cool story about the stain.

Hugs,
Lou

No, not my mother-in-law, but my mother. Frank's Mom might believe it though. She loved the tabloids every day. LOL

Crikey! G'day Shari, that is another great and very interesting chapter it is also spagless (if that's a word or maybe it's a feralism.) This one contained a few shocks, including how the apartment came about and the jealousy, but the last line blew me away. Good luck and I'll look forward to finding out what happens. Cheers Fez

Again you are making the best out of situation that could be not so good. They certainly tricked your mother into making a quick decision and not necessarily what was best for her. At least you get a bit of respite with a little more space for yourself at home, mentally and physically.

Now the tease...what about this upcoming wedding? All in the next chapter, I'm sure.

An excellent summary of the situation. They did a number on my mother. Wedding plans next. A happy chapter except I still didn't like Jeff.

I love your warm stories...after reading, I felt like we had just been chatting, sitting around my square oak table. We shared loss of mother stories and the connection and concern about our mothers and then, of course, those daughters.

I just had another reviewer say something similar. It read like a confidential chat. That's good to know. Things are good right now with Nichole and me, but then she's three thousand miles away. AT least, I've learned how to avoid spats over the phone!

You and your mother seemed to share quite a bit. That was a fascinating about your father contacting her after he passed away. Great detail about the peignoir and the wine stain having disappeared when she took it out again. That prompted you to ask for a sign from your mother that she had passed over. Curious to know what prompted Jeff to propose after such a long time. I like the way you write this as if you're confiding to someone you know. judi

Wow, that ending sure was a surprise! Great chapter, Shari. It is an interesting and can't-stop-reading-chapter. I enjoyed the talk about the afterlife.
Smiles,
Karyn :-)

Glad you liked the ending. You could have knocked me over with a feather! (pardon the cliché) More on the afterlife when Mom passes over.

The trials and tribulations of being a family in pieces. Action flows smoothly. Easy to follow story line. Descriptively well written. Write on.

Well written, but as you must know by this time, I believe differently than you about the "other side." The contact with the dead is forbidden in the scripture even as the use of mediums and spiritualists is condemned.
The reason for this is simple. The evil in the world stems from the influence of Satan on mankind. Scripture reveals there are many demons who serve Satan, and having been around for eons, know all about humans. This allows them to
convincingly impersonate the deceased to spiritually gulliable unbelievers.
The Bible claims for itself the exclusive rights of spiritual truth and we are told in many places not to seek such truth anywhere else. To do so involves rejecting God's revelation, thus dishonoring Him while promoting error, or more specifically, the Devil's lies. Dennis

Appreciate the six in spite of your personal feelings. I understand what you're saying. The more I go to readings, the more I realize how many fakes are out there. In fact, they really don't do anything except give spiritual advice and they always put the white light of protection around us. I've never met anyone yet who claimed to contact the dead. But I've had experiences where my mother did contact me, and hubby swears he saw my sister's ghost or spirit in our house for one brief minute shortly after her death. He's a devoted Catholic, mind you, and a non-believer too. Still he can't deny what he saw.
Others around my community have claimed to see neighbors out in the yard shortly after they passed over. Guess it takes longer for the body to accept death than it does the soul.
