Reminds me of the Bad New Bears, the classic baseball tale of a underdog who rises up and for just moment plays a perfect game. This is what inspires. Well done.

good little story for the beginning of the baseball season. My grandsons played on little league and loved it. I watched them as much as I could. I'm a Tiger fan, of course! Miss Sally

I often think that it is a good things to lose sometimes at the things you are good at. If you don't lose then it will surely never give you any room for improvement and will always make you feel smug. I enjoyed reading this piece and I thought that your writing flowed well and I couldn't find any faults...Jacob

Hope and inspiration is what it's all about and you've somehow captured the whole story and their ongoing positivity in a mere six sentences. I would think the extra innings would have been a crowd pleaser and I'm sure most were rooting for the underdog. It's not ALWAYS about winning. Sportsmanship is indeed the most important lesson at work. Well written John.
Cheers P

P, I couldn't agree with you more. It's always better to win, but it is also important how one gets there.
    Thank you, John

Hi,

It is that time of year, with bases loaded, down to the last out, and the count --- 3 and 2. You can smell the hot dogs in the air. Perfection! (*<*)

Great story.

Cheers & Blessings
Keep Smilin'.... Jax (*:*)

I love this time of year (minus all the snow), when the smell of the leather baseball mitt and balls popping inside them.
    Thank you ... John

And I am one happy camper that spring training is under way, John. I am a baseball nut! It's a long long way from October to March as far as I'm concerned. Youve done a good job with this. Is it a contest entry? I don't see a mention of that on the page? Great structure and delivery anyway. Bob

Hi,
This is a very good story
with such limited parameters too.
It has all the dramatics of the game.
Overall, I think it is a very good write.

Hi jmdg1954

Not being a baseball player, I don't necessaily 'get' the niceties of the game, but your short tale of determination among the junior players puts the excitement they get from it over very well.

Nicely done.

Patrick

Thank you. Patrick. I'm glad you got the point of children believing in themselves and the team and never giving up.

What fun it was playing baseball when I was a child and what a bore it is since i outlived participating, but I suppose there are those who enjoy watching there children stand around on a grass field for hours waiting for the few seconds of activity.
