you went through this experienced - experience
I'm with the hooker, do what it takes to make your exoneration front page news since the accusations were known to everyone - you need everyone who heard the trumped-up charges to hear that you were cleared - people who make false accusations not only jeopardize the reputation and livelihood of those they lie about, but they make it harder for those who really were molested to be believed in the future. You would be doing a public service to hold the accusers' feet to the fire.
I think the hooker is wrong about this one - people have different attitudes about such things, and a considerate spouse will honor his wife's wishes even if they don't reflect his own way of thinking. I was married for 13 years, and we closed the bathroom door for privacy. My husband had his faults, but he honored my wishes about such things. A spouse who refuses to honor his wife's issues is probably going to be insensitive to her in other ways as well.
As for the husband and his relationship with his grandson's wife, boy, that is just not the business of the new wife to interfere in. Just count to ten and bite your tongue.
I like how your questions and answers get me involved, and I love how you offer different approaches with three of you. :-)Brooke

You ladies did it again The advise from the three of you is sound and not pretentious at all. Love the column and keep up the good work. The grandfather grandson relationship is a tough one. Patricia

It sure is. What I didn't say was that sometimes a person needs to lose to win.

My husband and I had a difficult time with our respective mothers trying to interfere in our marriage and we sat down together and basically told both mothers they would be welcome in our home as long as they got the bees out of their bonnets and quit telling how to live our lives. The problems stopped.

No doubt because you were united. Often adult children need to convinced the people who love thenm that they are safe and capable of negotiating the terms of their marriage
