lol
You're being pretty tolerant, if you ask me. :)
This isn't going to end well, is it? :(

I'm going to follow this entire book... and cry. I'm going to weep because all of us are headed here... all of us.

*sigh*...

That being said, I cannot stop. But I will for tonight... because I must. I am this far, and I really love that she's so feisty and you are as well. I can see from whence the name "Spitfire" comes. lol

Also, I love the photos with each chapter... I'd love to see actually rabbit ear antennas on that tv with some tin foil on the ends. Ah, those were the days! lol

I love the enthusiasm you're feeding me. As for crying, wait until you hear what went on at Mom's funeral! But time heals torn relationships.

oh boy! I can't wait to hear... damn, mom's gone. :( I'm sorry. (I knew it! I knew it! The old girl was starting to grow on me. :( (((((hugs))))))

Excellent interaction between you and your mother. You describe the frustration and annoyance with an obvious care and a little guilt that we all feel in similar situations. The other person is driving us crazy and we feel we should be more tolerant.

The characters have depth and personality.

I learned one thing. I don't want to do this to my children. To be honest, even though I love them, I'd rather be my own boss. Thanks for catching up.

Hi Shari.
I burst out laughing reading this chapter. Your mom proved to be fiercely independent, and demonstrated this throughout the television show. You showed extreme patience with such humour. :D
Bye, my friend!

Thanks, Rosalyne. I suspect I was more patient when younger.

I'm not too terribly behind. I love the inclusion of specific shows, that brings me right back to the time of the events. Quick and easy! I remember Donna's grandma regained her health under our care which was great, but like your mom, increased her lovely presence in our life. :) This reads so smoothly that it seems very short. Good that we want more, yes? mikey

Just shows how much stress is responsible for bad health. Read part 5 you'll definitely want more.

I liked that show too. Watched with my mother as well. The interruptions would drive me crazy too. I use the TV for background. I don't actually watch intently. Otherwise, I have the radio on playing my favorite songs.

Found one nit:
Dr. Quinn, Medicine woman. Need to capitalize woman as a part of the title...

Will stop back for next installment...

Found and fixed it. Amazing how many nits were found, all different from different reviewers. Guess it takes a village to edit a book. LOL
I loved the show until the romance ended in marriage. Heck, the chase was the thrill for me. Sully was hot in my book.

Agreed. Sully was hot. Show was winding down when they married...

Best line....the doctor is lost in the woods....I know I am...I chuckled. What you described made me get edgy...so hard to be patient with cantankerous old people, even when they are our parents...your story has warmth but reality, poignant humor and puts the reader in the room with you and your mom. Great job.

Your description is played out in millions of homes across America. The frustration of trying to have quality time , but you can't because of these little bumps in the way.

The dialogue is written with clarity, the interaction between you and your mother can be read two ways, funny or sad. Funny, you miss enjoying the show, unable to grade papers, and sad because your mother's age, her dependency is becoming more clear no matter how fast she gets up to retrieve her glasses. I'm enjoying each chapter.

Thanks, Muffins. In retrospect, I can laugh about it, but not when it happened.

I can relate, I use to say to myself, "no rest for the wicked". Elderly people can keep use hopping. I remember leaving the room when my mother wouldn't stop talking, it wasn't worth it to try to watch TV. Excellent dialog and flow of story here.

Mom would get caught up in the story, but afterward, she wanted to discuss it.

I enjoyed your description of watching television with Mom. She seems quite spunky at 4'8". You painted a good picture of how much patience is needed when dealing with the elderly. And I am sure it could be another story told from the elderly's point of few. It can be a trying situation for both.

For sure, BG. I swore I'd never do this to my children. A nursing home will do for me.
