G'day Dawn, it is so shocking this stuff mate. In December some prick held 17 people hostage in the name of his God, and killed 2 of them! In Australia! Anyway good "poem" LOL Cheers Fez

We had one full week of peace. Almost. From New Years until today, it seems the anger rested. I know I was waiting for the shoe to drop. Isn't that sad, waiting for the shoe to drop? Well I am afraid there are more shoes.

Thank you. I wrote this poem in hopes that the public outcry - "I am Charlie" will be recognized and cause readers to read the notes. I hope you will consider the challenge within them. Blessings, my friend.

Yes, we are all Charlie. We're dealing with those who care nothing for life. The longer this goes on the less chance we have to save ourselves and the world.

The U.S. and other countries have seen this coming for years, a Muslim takeover, but have refused to do anything about it. Europe has gotten themselves into a mess (as we are doing here) under the guise of tolerant immigration policies which have backfired on them. A few years ago France actually paid Muslims to leave the country if they did so. Muslims are infiltrating every country around the globe with no good purpose in mind. Those who don't convert (or otherwise unacceptable) are massacred. Prez Obama discounted the advice of his military advisers to fight ISIS there or sooner or later fight it here. Looks like most countries (including U.S.) have opted to fight it on their home turf. Tough times ahead for all of us.

Well said - 'idiots' is also an apt description of most 'leaders'.

Hi, Dawn
Spot-on in subject matter and I admire you use of French to drive home the point of our mutual concerns and brotherhood in this terrible incident. I admire the French for coming out to stand behind those killed and for keeping Freedom of Speech alive in France. Our nation, US, could learn a thing or two about valuing free speech.

Well done, and most timely!
-Ray

This is so heart breaking and I am also so very angry. This terrorism has to stop. My French is worse than my Spanish, so I cannot help you with this. I could care less about the points or cents, this has a strong and important message and I am so pleased you posted it.

What an awesome challenge Dawn. And thank you SO much for this solidarity poem. What unthinkable acts --- like you said --- against those who create mere cartoons.

Do you mind if I steal your personal challenge paragraph above about picking up a pen? I will give you credit for it. I just want other folks to know where the idea generated.

Yes, God help us all.
Hugs, Marsha

It is difficult to comment on just the content of the poem, since without the explanation, it doesn't have the impact as it does with it. Historically, for many things written in commemoration of such events, as the public gets fed more information as time passes, opinions change and/or fade. It would seem to me that the true merit of this poem would be to see how it reads next week.

You are right (if uninformed about the world-wide movement underway by political cartoonists this very day and those protesting). "We are Charlie" is the outcry. It is the reason I wrote this as it is - I hope to capitalize on that so that the notes (the REAL message) are read, NOT for my own, personal glorification as a poet.

But as I said, you are right about the poem itself.

Thank you for your time and opinion. I appreciate the review and sincerely hope you consider the challenge.

Ah yes, I have ancestors from France via Canada so I was grieved at the morning news. My prayers are with this small, ancient country, comfort to the relatives, and justice to the monsters who did such evil.

Dawn, your notes were very helpful and the poem is right on the money. Yes, our freedom of speech is eroding very quickly in favor of PC dogma. Well done, my friend. :0 GraacieAnn
