I am sure there are some on here who know of a husband like this fellow. Hope they read it. LOL. I love your dark and grisly stories and poems, Dean, you are very good at them. This one was no exception. :) Sandra xsx

    Heh-heh, I hope they read it too, Sandra, and I've always been grateful for your support of my "darker poetry". Not everyone shares the same appreciation for it that many do, but to each their own. That's what makes this Big Blue Marble we all share such an interesting place to live.

    Thanks again! :}

    That's exactly what it is, Barbara. And, you know what they say, revenge is best when it's served cold. And this gal is a cold as they come, heh-heh...

    Thanks again! :)

reply by the author on 07-Dec-2014
    Yes, I've been there on a couple of different occasions. I'm trying to figure out how to create my own horror anthology of short stories and dark poetry. I haven't had much time to devote to it, however. :) ~Dean

i am on the old site since the newer one is to tasking on my eyes and mind.
Solid use of rhymed couplets
God alliteration as usual.
you have the art of developing a story in a poem well and you have achieved it well here. love the poem and its presentation

I've reverted back to 'classic', permanently, Deano, so this displays with your usual stunning skill, my friend.

This 'spectre' sounds a bit like MY wife BEFORE I murdered HER. LOL.

A few meter glitches later on, but I won't bore you with them.

Overall, a terrific write - creepy in a light-hearted and fun way.

Oh, hang on - there's a tap, tap, tapping coming from beneath the floorboards. HELP! MWAHA!

Excellent!

Cheers, Ray

    Ha-ha, you'd better look into that "tapping", Ray, and quick! I've been told by more than a few that my muse is loose. Perhaps he's come to pay you a visit?

    Wives, huh. You can't live with 'em, and you can't bludgeon them to death. It's far too messy!

    And hey, if you ever see glitches and have the time, by all means, let me know. That's the only way I can get better. I have been studying stressed and unstressed syllables, meter, and lots of other technical aspects of poetry lately, plus trying to keep my editor at Samhain Books happy. It ain't been easy!

    Thanks again for the awesome review, Rayman! :) ~DeanO

    LOL, Deano!

    What's this...you have an editor? Are you getting published?
reply by the author on 07-Dec-2014
    Yep, Samhain Publishing wants to do a horror anthology of short stories interspersed intermittently with some of my dark poetry. We're trying to bang-out the details now, and by all projections, it should be out by late next summer or, at the very latest, early fall. "Screams from a Darkened Room: And other Tales of Terror" is the name we've agreed upon. They've even done a book cover, a tentative one, of course, by one of their cover artists. Although, i think I could do better, LOL... :}

    You deserve any success, Deano.

    I assume it's not self-publishing, and if so (without meaning to sound condescending) watch out for the costs.
reply by the author on 07-Dec-2014
    No, thank goodness Samhain Publishing is a legit small publishing house, dealing primarily with horror fiction, but not exclusively. Check them out here, when you get the chance...

    That's great!

    I just checked them out, and they sure have some scary book-covers and titles - NEARLY as good as YOURS. :-)

This is a lovely, I should say. The black and white and the rhymes were just the right stuff for the treat. The sudden realization of death and the horror of living with the bitch was a class by itself. A leaf out of Crime and Punishment by Dostovsky. Good work and keep scaring.

Dear Dean - makes me want to stay single my friend.LOL Once more your imagery is so powerful it gives me shivers. Not the nice kind neither. But this reads flawlessly smooth from beginning to end. Then his luck ran out, buggers gonna pay for a long time. Great poem, dark, depressive but revenge they say is sweet and a double edge sword.
Excellent skilled write as always. - i read it in Classic:)
Thanks for sharing.

    Thanks, Mo, I'm glad you noticed the note, and I really appreciate the review.

    For some reason, the new site is turning all of my italicized words a light grey color, and some of the text isn't showing up at all in the black background. As you well know, I'm a big fan of the darker backgrounds. :}

    Thanks again for your kind comments. I do appreciate them as always. ~Dean
