Ouch. This poem grotesquely conquers some of the sham and entitlement exhibited by some humans, in the name of "god". As a believer, I almost want to vomit when I read your work. But you have every right to share your beliefs. I did find it helpful to read your author notes. And I did like your photo. But I am saddened too, like you, when I see man's inhumanity to man. I have seen so much pain in this world. I choose to believe that the God I know would never want to see such torture in His name.

You are right on the money I think. I am certain that God has nothing to do with any of the despicable acts that these people seem to want to attach his name to. So sad really, if they truly read and followed the teachings of God the world would be based on Love. I have this terrible fear that a piece like this will only sadden those of us that believe and will fall on the deaf ears of the ones I wish it would enlighten. Thank you so much for your thoughtful words.

Are all religions included in your definition of the Godly? I would certainly hope so, since each has its extremist fanatics (some certainly a lot more than others). Your poem is very well written with a catchy presentation. Good luck in the voting booth!

Powerful on the money observation. It hits home with devastating force when seen in black and white. There isn't a word of this that radical religious groups don't practice. Scary. Well done and rather courageous to put it out there. No doubt some will take it the wrong way sadly. NG

Your poem is sadly true. In this past decade it has seemed to be that some of the most mean-spirited people I have ever heard or seen claim to be Christians or religious groups. They have no compassion. It sickens me. Hopefully your poem will be read by some who will benefit.

I too wish this were more of an exaggeration. But, it really is pretty much an accurate picture of policy for many factions. I've read most of the books and I don't see any of this in them. They all seem to be about love.

Yes, that's true. In writing, its all about love. But the loud voices and actions do not live out the writing.

Wow! The gloves are definitely off here. It is interesting how you switched from narrative to the "prayer". The "prayer" could even stand alone as well as the narrative. The two together seems over stated. The images are very powerful and sad.

I thought of that. But, I wanted to show that the two were almost identical when one would think the tone at least would be a bit different. Thanks for the insights.

Thank you. Glad you liked it. A little afraid of what the reaction might be. But, I thought I should let her rip!

How sad is it that so many read the Old Testament, find the words of hate they want to use as an excuse to hurt or kill, and forget that God is Love.

It is a sad thing. I'll never understand how anyone can get any message other than love from the Bible. Even other books from major religions are based on love. They all find some way to twist the words unfortunately.
