lynglyng: your story brought tears to my eyes because it is so full of love and God. I could relate totally to your mother wanting to make her last Christmas a really good one for all of you. I have a failing heart, congestive heart failure, after 18 long years of heart disease. A year and a half ago, I was told by my doctors that I would only live six months. I planned a great Christmas and it was and I am still here planning another great Christmas which might be our last. Have two Christmas presents bought already. I do as much as I can with what little strength I have. The red bird story is true. At the time I was told I had only six months to live, a beautiful red cardinal would sit on a branch of a tree outside my bedroom window, every morning. Let God be the glory!
