Excellent you teach us this new form, I like it. The poem about a dog and a boy as well. I usually like all animal poetry. Good photo.

I have never tried to create a Ghazal and appreciate your demonstrating the form in such a appealing way. Thanks for sharing the source of your inspiration and a photograph to prove it. I no longer have pets, but still prefer the devoted dogs to aloof cats. I enjoyed your rhymes and refrain. Happy weekend- Joan

This is an interesting poetic format I've not heard of. I see the capital words are the rhymes but interestingly the rhymes are neither at the end of the beginning. Well done, Tom.

The first time I read this I just read it as I would any poem, then I saw those words in CAPITALS and looked at the poem again, and then saw your author notes. So, I read it again, and what a difference, I loved it! You have probably tried every style of poetry these is now, Tom. I can see why the photo you took inspired this one. What an interesting format for rhyming the words. It would be nice to see a sample of it written in the native script of ancient Persia just to see how they would replace the capital letters! You have listed a number of very good reasons that dogs are important to our well-being. And, yse, I agree...cats don't hold a candle to dogs (even though I included a number of them in my furry family over the years). Let's not mention that to a cat enthusiast, though. They have claws!

All of my best friends have been rescuees from puppy mills, shelters, and non-caring homes. Perhaps I should write a poem about girls and their dogs. Then I could post a photo of Henry and Lilli, my two Cavachon puppies.

Thank you Randi. I great idea. Actually i added the capitals myself for impact. They are not neccessarily part of the requirements. Wikipedia has a good description and examples.

Perhaps you should create a writing prompt that requires the capitals! (Just not in the ancient languages, though. They'd be terribly difficult to review! (0:)
