a compelling illustration
good assonance in hope floats on the throes
effective use of questions to draw the reader in
strong verb choices add to the poem's intensity

Hanging on by just the fingernails is a very powerful description of the creeping and incessant pain which one suffers daily. There is no reprieve or escape. When the pain comes in an excruciating and terrible way, even faith will stand aside in shame for nothing will take that pain away. There is only one thing to do - wait for the whole dramatic suffering of physical pain, to subside and to ask faith why she was hiding when the pain starts.
At times like this, we have to learn how to accept the pain and to bear with it. Prayers and faith can ease somewhat our apprehension, but it cannot take away the pain.
A great dramatic writing about suffering from physical pain of the extreme type.
Cheerio, best, Ritchie. :))

I am sending my prayers daily to Kathy and please tell her that life is always a painful process for anyone. We shall, soon get use to them eventually, but we must never be defeated. There is still a life ahead to pursue once the pain subsides.
It is nt easy but we willl manage whatever life throws at us, smiles.
Cheerio, hugs and love to the you both, Ritchie.

Yes well portrayed the dilemma we all face , on one form or another throughout our earthly existence whether to hang on in there or simply give up -

Your poem was very well written and it carried with it a meaningful message for me. I have been reading so many well written poems this afternoon, yours one of them. Thank you for writing it, because it gave me hope.

This is so true. Without hope there is no life and vise verse. It does not take religion to provide that hope, for this faith in what is--is born within the heart of every man.

Hi, Treischel,
"To Hang On" is excellent free verse with good visually interesting structure, good figurative language and imagery (another day to suffer of savor). It has good flow.

You speak many words of truth in this write, it is a powerful write with a strong message. When life gets you hanging by a thread you need to look for strength elsewhere and what better place than the Lord for the strength to pull you through!
Nice write Sir Treischel! Nice write.

You depict the desperation well. The clinging to life with faith and God surmounting it all so you can see the beauty of His Pasture. Well done, Tom.

Wonderful free verse for this competition, wonderful imagery, a person hanging on for dear life on the edge of a cliff, hanging on to a slither of faith, this is beautifully written with a great flow. Good luck.

To hang on,indeed there comes a time in life where one tries to hang on, I can relate to that, that's a heartfelt expressed poem. Good luck at the contest, God bless you. Lakeport.
