"Baby, a person is smart, but people are lazy, ignorant, silly-ass creatures who want to be led like blind little sheep." Grandma was right. And if they're not sheep then they ostriches with their heads buried in the sand. Not realizing that the largest part of them is highly exposed and will never see it coming. They know where their head is but they can't find their ass.

I saw a political cartoon once in which the founding fathers were debating details in the Constitution. Ben Franklin throws his hands up and says, "Ah, the hell with it they'll just fuck it up in 200 years.' And like the Energizer Bunny they just keep on fucking it up."

Thank you very much. I bet the founders knew just that.

It has always amazed me that I never find the ignorance on an individual basis that I do on a group basis. It seems our intelligence reduces when we begin combining it for some reason. That has to be a violation of some law. I think your argument is sound and on the money, but I don't know what the solution is. After all they were building structures to reach a place that has no structure. A waste of time, no matter how magnificent the effort. Thought provoking piece. mikey

I think that you nailed to the wall a very good argument. The more time we spend divided, fighting each other for every perceived insult or threat, the more time is taken away from doing something that can really matter to the whole of the human race.
We are, for the most part, intelligent and creative, but we fall for the same stupid crap day after day. Instead of correcting this, we stupidly keep doing the same thing over and over again. Isn't that the very definition of insanity?
You bring up a lot of good points and I really wish the world would get it's crap together and actually follow this course of thinking.

Thank you, again. I think you're going to spoil me. Yes, I'm tired of Politicians with their divisive, victim mentality that they always promote. We can be so great, if they actually work to bring people together as one.

I enjoyed your commentary on this year's political platform.
I agree that it seems every year we get promises and more promises and not a dang one of them ever accomplished. 8-)

Lance, I admire your candor in these essays. You don't pull punches and lay it all out on the line.

Statistically, there is a wage disparity but statistics don't tell the whole story. Women are historically not as aggressive in demanding higher wages. If they were, the gap would be narrowed significantly. But it's up to them, not some fairy godmother to do it for them. Also, women fall behind in seniority when they opt to put careers on hold after having children. That sounds unfair, but in the final analysis, it is their choice.

But don't make so much sense, Lance. It will disrupt the entire order of things in this country.

Thank you very much, Jack. Yes, you are right, there many variables and most have to do with choice. But we know certain people actually hate choice.

Good job. I have said for a while now that a certain politician, whose name happens to begin and end with a vowel, has subjected our country to a 'divide and conquer' mentality when it comes to those who elected him (not counting all the fake voters). This is a very sad state when someone who is supposed to have the people's best interests in mind, just doesn't give a damn.

Thank you very much. Yes, did see the video of the guy pretending to AG Eric Holder at the voting poll?

So true. We don't want truth, we want excuses and our leaders these past few years have given those out like candy. As for God, our leaders invoke him when necessary (times of disaster or grief) but meanwhile take our country deeper into sin by negating His teachings in our laws. Can't really expect Him to bless us a lot for that.

Your piece is interesting, written with a sense of humor, and includes sources to back up what you say.

Thank you very much. No, for some truth gets in the way of their blind faith in a ideology.

typo - if you just for vote for
You say the 77 cents on the dollar claim is a myth - it would be far more convincing if you explained how/why it is a myth, even in a capsulized version. When those various news organizations have debunked the myth in the past, what evidence/argument have they offered?
Just give me one paragraph where you summarize how it's been discredited.
I'm glad to see you've offered sources so someone can spend considerable time looking up the debunking articles, but truth be told, most people want you to at least hint at the overarching argument to be found in these sources. Brooke

Thank you very much, Brooke. No, I didn't explain because those who choose to believe the myth, will do so no matter what I said or how clearly or factually I stated it. They have their own personal reasons for that, and will never fact-check. People who are curious will do the research and discover the truth for themselves.

Couldn't agree more, Lance. It's a plot to continue to foment unrest and dissatisfaction in the US. It's disgusting, and there are actually some women who believe this. Dear me.

First off, women who remain childless make the same money. That's statistically verifiable. Where the disparity comes is that a woman may work five years, excel at what she does, gets the baby bug and takes four years off work to be a mommy. No problem with that choice if you can afford it, but it is a 'choice' no doubt about it.

In that interim, the business skills stagnate - they do not keep up with the latest breakthroughs/practices. Then they come back to the workforce and complain because they don't make the same money as a man.

Give me a break, girls, ya can't have it both ways.

Great rant,
Gayle

The thing about Rants, they are more than not considered one sided, not being specific enough about one side verses the others point of view. I think you patrolled the border very well on that, a difficult endeavor at best. I too believe that god and politicians do indeed the unified mankind. I thought about that story. The Tower of Babble many times and wondered if the good king had not shot the arrow into the heavens and angered the lord, where would we be today? There is an entire book on that, I'm sure. But I liked your "Not supposed to be a rant - rant" it was eloquent and interesting.
