A great piece that depicts our origins and here we will ultimately be. The words original origins makes the point in a very telling way. Well done, Tom.

Has it been Ash Wednesday or is that still to come. I like your poem and foot note: ashes to ashes and dust to dust. Well said and a great picture.

Hi, Treischel,
"Ash Wednesday" is excellent short poem with internal rhyme and alliteration. It flows well. Original origins is a tautology.

Tom, this is superb. How can you say so much with so little? Absolutely LOVED your beginning: A dash of ash. Love, love, love it!
Your poems are so cool!

Or reminds of that which we would rather not be reminded of.
It seems ashes serves only one purpose in thought.
A nice portrayal of worth here Treischel,
Best wishes,
RG

Three lines, ten words -and yet bearing spiritual significant and evoking memories of our spiritual beginnings.
A spiritual poem as we approach the time of Lent in our religious lives.
Thoughtful.

The holy season is here. It is quite spiritual period of time. I don't see people wearing ash around Seattle. My mother was cremated. She is now ashes too. Creative poem with good visual imagery. Nice work.

Comment from Dean Kuch
Yep, from dust we were created, and to dust we will return once more. During early times of Ash Wednesday, ashes and sackcloths were used as severe penance due to grave sin. Ashes, mixed with sackcloths represented a gruesome image of penance and humiliation; a form of penitence associated with those who violated Canon Law in the early church.
Nice work, Tom. Good way to bring the season to light!
