I would've voted for this if the voting booth were still up.
It's an extraordinary poem that embodies romance, the cruelty of reality, and a bittersweet journey which all of us tread upon.
A fascinating use of personification here:
"love does not recognize time's dominion"
Love has always been a mystery to each and every one of us. No one knows when it falters..no one truly knows whether it lives on forever or not.

The winner was pretty good too I must admit. I liked this one myself. So pleased that you did too. So far it lives on forever, but I must admit I haven't quite reached forever yet. It just seems like it!! Thank you so much, mikey

Not too many people entered. Three excellent entries and we kind of divided up the vote. The piece by Garcon that won was awfully well written and poignant. I'm glad you liked mine, but I'm not too disappointed when I come in second to an excellent piece like that. Thank you kindly! mikey

I'm not sure if this is the one you were talking about....but this is superb....just beautiful. Yes.....I would wonder ....how a mother of father.....could give up their own flesh for adoption.....sometimes it is the greater love that lets go.

I remember a story some many years ago about a lawman who just could not settle down to wed his sweetheart. He watched them years later as you so excellent describe in your poem. Well done . Shalom

I'm really not a poet and I often miss the meaning of a poem so I may have this wrong. It seems to me that the person standing at the lamp post is in love with the the one going in the house but leaves it at that in order to not destroy a family. God loves you and so do I.

This was surprising. I thought it would be yadda, yadda, yadda all is well between two lovers as time passes. Instead this yields to 'greater good'
No spag, good form, though free verse is not my comfort zone.

I love the picture. I love the poem. Love does not have a time line. It crosses over barriers too. Sometimes our love does not stop when our loved one's does. Great work. Good luck with the contest.
