Aah! In days gone by.
Everything seemed so much simpler and much more appreciated.
Though I didn't get to appreciate them myself I always thought them quite impressive in movies.
This thoughtful Rordeau highlights your own appreciation for the cars of yesterday perfectly.

No gas concerns had yet been felt ... ha! We're paying for this now, aren't we??
And two could snuggle on the seat .. I wonder if this could be blamed for a couple of unplanned pregnancies!!
Oh, how charming, Tom! I felt like I was watching a scene from Happy Days! You must have been quite a .. ahem! .. Romeo?? :) :)
Sonali :)
engine's roar was indiscr(eet).
While hoping (ladies') hearts will melt,

Comment from STEPHEN A CARTER
In days gone by HOT cars were sweet.
THEIR engine's roar MOST indiscrete. INDISCREET
And two could snuggle on FRONT seat.
When cruising slowly down MAIN street,
In search of dragsters to defeat. 'd' alliteration
At stops the car is looking svelte COOL
As smoking tires squeal damage dealt MAKE OTHERS DROOL
Loved the piece. Brought back memories of the 60's/70's.

Ah yes, Tom--the good old days of vintage autos;
Your well-expressed Rondeau shows a great love of cars no longer manufactured nor seen today;
"No gas concerns had yet been felt"--so very true!
A pleasure to read your fondness for wheels.

How sweetly this is written.
I almost felt the warmth of my face and the breeze wizzing by with the image you create.
So many things nice to look back on. I wonder what this generation will look back on as their comforting thought. Not much, I am afraid.
Love the image, and love the ambiance you create for a time gone by.
Best wishes, My friend.

Though I grew up during the death of the muscle car or really the era when cars were cars, I do miss them. My dad had a 64 Chevelle Super Sport that he souped up and dragged all the time. In 2003, previously only owning shitboxes, I bought an 84 El Dorado. Now that was a car.

Thanks Ravenblack, it was fun to gun the engine at the stop lights and smoke the tires on the green.

Lovely photo of this old car and the an equally excellent Rondeau. I liked your repeating line. But also no seat belts and no gas problems a.o.

Hi Tom
For me the old cars both from the U.S and U.K had personality, nowadays I can barely tell the difference between one car and another. True, the emissions were probably sky high(Excuse the pun) but the exteriors were notable. LOved the nostalgic feel to this Rondeau poem
kindest regards
