I am terribly afraid you may be right and we have been guilty of premeditated murder of the "noble savage" of Indian lore in the 1700's by giving them blankets infected with smallpox.
I agree that this in the most dangerous for a truly new virus is easily created by man is capable of outpacing the people who can control and destroy them. The technology is not that difficult and with the aid of a rogue viral geneticist can tailor them to specific groups that carry a specific gene.. This is why the CDC (Center for Disease control uses research to develop dangerous strains to produce prototype vaccines which can be easily manufactured and reacts so quickly to new outbreaks of flu or anything else. Then there are diseases that act more generally and might lead to a catastrophe that you describe. There are the superbugs too. Scary world isn't it. More scary than nuclear weapons and their scary enough. Imagine a hacker getting into the CDC to get information.

A good amount of history relates to this type of horrible germ warfare. No one is safe in an unsafe world. Well done!

First, wicked nightmare stuff. Dark is not a word deep enough to express the angst infused in this work .Well done!
Second, your pattern is strong with rhyme supporting the stanza's.
Third, word choice is good in the development of a dark theme.
Fourth ..wish I had not read it before bed...

My Friend Dean,
This is a eye opening history lesson. I had no idea that germ warfare was so prevalent in time past. Also I never associated germ warfare with the plagues God used oft times against Israel as corrective measures when they disobeyed Him. Good observation!

You deeply, dark verse makes its point in your usual, stunning fashion, nicely done. This was a very sobering poem. I wish it were a work of fiction, but alas, as your author notes say, it is happening all around. Too dismal to think about. I will just review the piece as a creative work. The rhyming and thee flow were great. I enjoyed the musical backdrop. It was peaceful and yet with the poem it was a peace of a different kind. Nicely done.
