I really like this, getting inside a mental illness is a hard thing to do, but you captured it very well. I worked at a mental hospital and this is very close to the fight some of them had everyday. Great job.

This brief story conveys life and death emotions using self-talk dialogue adeptly. The ending or resolution is abrupt; probably could be improved by some foreshadowing or dramatic action. For the middle two sentences in paragraph 4, I suggest, "You know we have to eat".

So true how society convinces us we should always be better, slimmer, brighter or richer.
In this case, the lady believes the propaganda until she sees realism, beauty and soul in her mirror.

lancellot, this is an extremely powerful dialog that, no doubt, plays in the minds of anorexics. It's a creative way for those who do not suffer from this malady to begin to understand the battle within. I like the positive resolution at the end. Well done! :0 GracieAnn
