Hey Dean,
I'll bet interest did "spike" after that visual display on poles. Nothing quite gains the respect of your enemies like cutting off their heads! Lol. Good luck in the contest, Bill

Lol, I didn't know about the subject of this contest. :D
You did great as it was expected, exploring really well the subject. Very original, particularly the Dracula character you chose. Strong word choice, excellent presentation and imagery. In a few words you did a great job.

    Thanks, Angel, I appreciate it.
I wish more had thought as you do about it. If just two more people had, it would have won the contest by a vote. Had one more felt the way you do, it would have been a two-way tie.

Oh, I'm sorry about it. I have not been reviewing this weekend, which is why tonight I'm trying to compensate my lack of reviews. I very rarely check contests, only check and vote when it's people I'm following.
I almost entered the piece I posted yesterday for the contest of non-fiction, but then I didn't. I stopped entering contests here, particularly those who is the committee deciding.

I here you, Angel! It costs a lot, and promoting really doesn't help at all.
reply by Jade Lawson on 24-Nov-2013
Oh I know it doesn't worth promoting them too high. I think if you want to have a chance of wining, you have to promote them for at least 32 cents, so people have a go and read it. But promoting it high won't make you a winner. I used to promote my contest entries high and never won because of that. Many people just go to the first page, review it from the member cents and then, move on for the next poem.
It's like me tonight to me honest. I haven't reviewed anything during the weekend, so tonight I'm reviewing everything on the first page to compensate. Nearly $25 member cents by now, lol. Tomorrow I'll go to my inbox when kids go to school.

    Yeah, unfortunately...
reply by Jade Lawson on 24-Nov-2013
I need to promote my story higher. When I used to promote it at 52-62 cents I'd get 23-26 reviews. Now, I usually post in the first page between the 8-16 position, and still I'm only getting about 32-36 reviews, not much difference, need to post it higher and see how it goes.

Since I love the season of Halloween and am a student of history, I like your poem very much. (Maybe you could review my article "The Festival of the Dead" and "Ghost and Gravestone tour: Boston"). Also love the background music.

I certainly will, tommcge, I have made a note of it.
Thanks for reading and reviewing my poem. I am much obliged.

Very good take on the famous count. I like especially that you went after the historical figure, not the legend. powerful writing.

ps: what's the song's name to this?

Thanks very much, Tina, and I'm happy you know the history behind the imaginary Count Dracula, as many did not.

As far as the song, it's called Warrior's Quest. I am not sure of the artists name who performed it, but I felt it had that "warrior" feel I was looking for.

A brilliant piece once again Dean. A short powerful poem that speaks of fight and victory. the music captures your theme perfectly. Am impressed as always. Good job on this one.

Dean, you have, of course, created the definitive Dracula 5-7-5 that uses the power of sound and visualization, coupled with pun, to cause your work to explode the readers' minds. Super!

I count seventeen syllables in 5-7-5 order. The artwork is astounding. The last line makes the point. The second line "chilling." Impaling is as bloody as Dracula's blood thirst.

this is a very clever 5-7-5 poem With all syllables correct
The imagery is fantastic. Not sure it suits Dracula though.

Well done Mary

    Thanks, Mary.

Bram Stoker got the idea for his famous fictional vampire, Count Dracula, for the man known as Vlad. The Turkish Price was the inspiration behind the Count. Google Vlad Dracul for more detailed info.

    Thanks again...

Thanks Dean I was wondering, so you have have answered my question Mary

You're welcome, Mary. Unfortunately, the contest rules stated NO AUTHOR NOTES in bold, so while I had them included initially, I had to delete them all...

I saw you came a close 2nd keep up your inspiring work and informative Mary

I'll probably avoid contests for quite awhile. They simply cost too much, and promoting your work rarely helps.

However, I will never stop writing, I can not, it's in my blood...
reply by Jackarrie on 24-Nov-2013
I am inclined to agree with you, but when that prompt comes up, it gets me thinking of what to write. but I agree with you about the cost, It may be wise to just enter as most people do. Mary
reply by the author on 24-Nov-2013
    Or, not enter at all...

Hah, I need no prompts to stimulate my over active imagination, LOL...
reply by Jackarrie on 24-Nov-2013
Ok you win, you are not entering into the prompts only in the FS contests and also you own work. x Mary

Short and sweet. Vlad killed many people when he was alive. I actually watched a show called Ghost Hunters when they went into his castle. I love the picture you choose .

Hah, yes, it was rather short, just as the 5-7-5 rules dictate, my good friend. Seventeen syllables, done in three lines 5/7/and 5.

Thanks for the kind review, Devon...
