Nice! After reading the Author Notes, I went back and re-read the poem, in the place of the guy you wrote about... makes much more sense then! I agree, it seems weird to wed a corpse, but I do relate to his sense of duty and devotion, but from a Christian perspective, I see the important part of a person as being the soul, which had departed the body by then... so he really just wed the "jar" of clay...

Wedding a corpse...there is an old B-movie called Necromance. It is a love story between a man and a dead body. I believe there is a sequel as well. Macabre and disturbing, D-Nuts...well done.

Thanks so much, Christof, I always appreciate your support. I only wish my fans were as passionate about my prose as they are my poetry. My short story, Right Down the Drain is getting gobsmacked in the Story of the Month competition. Oh well, ya can't win 'em all, right?

Yeah I lost book of the month, I knew I would...us horror guys always get the shaft.Who cares, a nomination was cool. The snowdens and baldwins always get it.Bob won, which is good.I like that arrogant bastard.

Well written and interesting poem that keeps your attention as you are drawn in. Also, what a complex presentation but the effort resulted in a wonderful poem.

Truth is indeed often stranger than fiction. Many people will look for a darker motive for just about anything somebody else does, just to feel better about themselves. I thought the poem was very well written. Elizabeth Daniels.

Thanks you very much, Elizabeth. And, you are absolutely right, which leads me to that old, biblical favorite, "Judge not, lest ye be judged..."

Thanks for the fantastic review and insights...

Thank you patsypats. I am glad you liked these 'pictapoems' while they lasted, as this and one more will be my last. It sure has been a fun ride, though.

    Thanks again!

Creepy sound :)
Great presentation as always.
Taste death's sting... strong line, really liked this one. I liked to know about the story that inspired you to write this poem. I think is more heart breaking than fame searching thing. Your last stanza leave a sense of a trace of life beyond death.

Thanks, Angel, I'm really glad you liked this one. I had my reservations about posting it, given the rather gruesome subject matter, but I thought, what the hell...

Thanks again for the outstanding review!

Never worry about what people here will think, worry about what you like to write. You know about my story, once I decided to change the title to attract more people, but I returned to the original title. It's the one I like, regardless of what others will think or how many will read.

I agree. I just like to get people involved in some of the decision making process. It's a good public relations technique a successful author friend of mine uses frequently...

Oh I know. You know Fanstory may have its flaws and a few people left the site angry, but I think I owe the "success" of my story to all my readers. I had another idea and path in mind and their opinions and feedback led me to the path I followed, which is the best.

This is an awesome and chilling write, Dean, and the atmosphere is deeply increased by the use of older style language. It just gives it such an original and spooky flavour. Once again, I am glad I did not read this one late at night though!

Kindest of regards,

Julie :0)

Thanks very much, Julie. I am very glad you enjoyed this one. I only wish fans of my poetry were as passionate about my prose as they are my poems. My horror short, "Right Down the Drain" is getting annihilated in the current Story of the Month contest. Oh well, you can't win 'em all.

    Thanks again!

This is very well done and thought out on several levels, a fine piece of art. I see the Thriller influence, but it is you fantastic use of the archaic wording that leave the lasting impression. Super job. Creepy, but this profs we learn something every day!
