Family dynamics is something we all have to deal with. You did an excellent job with your story, and I didn't find any mistakes. I hope you have a wonderful evening. Shirley

I listened to this on TTS. I have a great one that sounds so natural, but it doesn't if the writing isn't natural. This flowed nicely and was very natural soundings. That comes from good writing. You can have a great story, but if it doesn't sound natural, it's no longer a great story.. In this case Chapter.
Again, I thought this was well written and flowed very naturally.
Keep Writing.

Thank you for the review and comments. I'm confused. What is TTS and what did you listen to? You couldn't have listed to this story, because it is my personal family story and I'm telling it as it happened. I think you saying the dialogue sounds natural and I appreciate that.

I copied it into a tts, and then listened to it. If you like I could copy it again and send an mp3 to you of your story..
My email, saturnn77@yahoo.com
send it and I'll send it back.

OH. TTS is text to speech..

Send it means: send your email.

Deare me, Beth, I've never come across a family who didn't have one problem or other. I don't think it would be a normal family otherwise. I loved this chapter and the many names were not difficult to keep up with. Ulla:)))

Thank you, I really appreciate your comments. This isn't only time that someone almost ruined the holiday by being difficult, but it was only time we saw two of our group come to physical blows and a plate of food thrown against the wall.

I know what you're saying. I do realise it wasn't pleasant at all, Ulla':))

There are often conflicts in most families, Beth, even small ones like mine. You are right, we do need to pick our battles and try to be more tolerant. You and Even seemed to understand that when you got to know Richard. Thanks for sharing. We can all learn from it.

I apologize in advance for my quick and meaningless reviews over the next few days. I'm out of stars and just trying to keep up, close as I can, so that I don't miss out on reviewing some of my favorite writer's posts. Thanks for sharing.

Ric, I understand. I keep getting behind to. I'm thrilled with any kind of review. I'm more than pleased that you consider me one of your favorite writers.

Ugly scene. I'm impressed you describe it so well, considering you weren't there--it reads as if you were an eyewitness. No winners here for sure. Sad aftermath.

Thank you Elizabeth, When you use dialogue you never get it totally accurate. I went by what I was told, and the fact I knew these people well enough I could guess how they likely reacted. I love your review.

Yea, I hate it when people have problems getting alone at family gatherings. Mostly jealousy over something less important to all.

Thank you Chuck. This was bad scene but family members often show their worse sides on holidays.

Not all do. Sorry about you guys having to experience such.

You were wise not to get involved and choose sides. It's interesting that both the brothers-in-law were diabetic and having a low sugar moment. It's awful that kind of thing happens.
On suggestion:
walked into Evan's parent's (parents') Seems like they were both alive then.

Thank you Helen> This story took place about forty-eight years ago. They are gone now, but everyone was still alive then. The children were young and Connie wasn't even born.

You mentioned it more briefly in your Remembering Yesterday book. This one gave us more details.

Great story. terrible story.
Very well told/written.
Too bad that Evan didn't know Richard well enough to recognize his condition and either bring him something to nibble on, or at least encourage him to do it himself.
But then you wouldn't have a story, either great, or terrible.
Best wishes.

Thank you for the review and excellent comments. Yes people who have blood sugar problems should always have some with them for moments like that. When there are two of them, already at odds, It was like a power keg about to explode.

How fascinating, yes there are problems in clashing personalities, they say one can choose their friends but not their family. We've had similar things in our family, but not coming to blows fortunately. And excellent post Beth, thanks for sharing, blessings Roy

Thank you Roy, It wasn't our best Christmas, but it was certainly memorable. Now there are very few left of that group except for the younger generation. That happened around forty-eight years ago.
