This is a great tale from the early days in the life of a young married couple told with a wonderful sprinkling of humor and wit -entertaining and delightful

Oh the good ole days when things would wait until whenever we could manage to get around to them... I really miss those simple yet wonderful Christmas times as well. I remember my husband yelling about the pine needles but I simply couldn't part with the one good thing in the tiny apartment. LOL
Always, Carol

I still let things go until I know i'm about to have company. I have too many other things I want to do. Those were the good ole days and I'd like to bring them back. Thanks for the review.

Hilarious. Your trademark wry, self-deprecating humor shines. Brilliant comeback to the wife joke. Those guys were dicks for not giving you a ride.

Thank you so much. I glad you still getting a chuckle. Yes those guys were dicks. They probably knew I was angry and didn't dare approach me. They probably couldn't their amusement.

This was a very funny chapter, with you chasing your husband's car, trying to get that ride home. It really would have been the decent thing to do, for his work buddies to offer you a ride, when they realized he didn't see you.
I'm so glad you gave them as good as you got, when you called his office!
I just made this one small suggestion:
I dodged and the teddy crashed against a window behind me shattering the glass.

Wow, either that glass was very fragile, or Evan had quite the pitching arm! I can't believe your corporate landlords made you replace that window, even though they were going to tear the house down.

Thanks for the great review. That window was made from thin glass and the teddybear was large and very solid. I'm glad you found my chapter funny.

Despite circumstances, you made it well for Christmas. I can see this happening about the car chase and the teasing. Meatheads, they should have helped you. Good one, Beth.

Thanks for the review, Chuck. I think those guys knew was frustranted and angry and didn't want to approach me. I doubt if they could have controlled the amusement when would made it worse.

I really sympathized with you in running in the rain to get Evan's attention. Boy, his co-workers were awful. But men raze each other in vulgar ways. I'm so impressed with you with that comeback to that teasing co-worker! I could never come up with a repartee like that so quickly!
The last sentence would probably work best as two sentences:
construct condos, It made no sense to pay for a broken window, but

Thanks for the review. I was pretty aggrivated that I wasn't able to get my ride home, and that I got soaking wet as well. You're right about the last sentence. Thanks for the suggestion.

"Those were the days," a saying that most of us can relate to, and not all were easy. But "the strong will survive," well, at least a good portion of the time. Thanks for sharing.

Your chapter in the book Chasing the Elusive Dream
A Race to the Finish I like the title and the story which brought laughter and yes, tears when I read----when you were on your way home from work, Evan noticed that someone had tossed out the few unsold trees on a vacant lot. He stopped and picked up the nicest one and brought it home to surprise me
Gert.

I must admit I felt enormous sympathy missing your husband and wanting a lift home. I agree with you about Evan's workmates not offering you a lift home instead of taunting him about the chasing of the car. You certainly moved around while renting accommodation. Beautifully written Beth, well done, blessings Roy

Actually we only rented the two apartments. We talked of moving from the second one, but we didn't actually leave until I finished college and got pregnant. Then we bought a house.
-
It seemed like a lot, yes we only rented two properties until we bought.

"College" does not need to be capitolized.
"has tossed out" should be had tossed out
"parent's" should be parents'
So interesting, and nice Christmas turned out okay.
