Well Done ~ Shirley

This poetry tugs at the heart. The emotions are intense
and the conflict is powerful. The reader can feel the
void in your heart through your words. The attched photo
is the perfect accent. Thank You for your creation.

I identify with this poem. My dad also left us when I was four. It took many years to forgive but we never had a connection even at his death. Writing about it was a first step for me in moving on. Good one and God bless!

Oh Shirley, I feel the loss in this one my friend. I was always Daddy's little girl (the youngest girl of 5, 7 altogether). My father was the most gentle man I knew, but still we never crossed him. Perhaps you might see him in your dreams???
thank you my friend,
karen

Thanks for rerading and reviewing with the understanding of that "emptiness" where a father's love should have been.
Both my parents have now passed and this was just a final release of emotion. I have forgiven long ago.

It is always so sad when parent and child are kept apart. Whether by necessity, choice or even death, children suffer and so do parents. I only hope you find happiness in the other places and people in your life and take peace in knowing he loved you, and it's not to late to allow yourself to find you may love him in some way deep within, for just being the man who life came through. God Bless!

I like your poem because of the raw honesty you express in your verse. It sounds very personal and the pain is clear to a reader, an essential emotive element in such a narrative. Your verses flow well and rhyme satisfactorily.

There is such pain in this well-written piece. I was unable to discern you and your mother's relationship. It seems there is a degree of blame, but I am not sure whether it's because you believe she lied to you and kept you from your father, or that you loved her, but missed the relationship you wanted to have with your missing father. Either way, I hope you heal. May God bless you!

This poem was very well written with rhyme & reason about how you feel about your dad, who wasn't there & wish it could of been different for you..Though, there are kids who are raised with a dad, who can be there, but not in a way, that the child benefits, for so many reasons, & they never bond, or if, just a little, never receiving what that child so much needed, because he or she was ignored, or because of the other extreme of being mistreated..

Your poem is very moving. It's so sad that misconceptions and untruths prevented the two of you from having a relationship. Nicely written!
