This is such a well written poem about the dad that wasn't there when you needed him. That is all that I know so I can't comment other than to say your poem is very good with great form! I am so sorry about your dad!

    Thanks for your generous review and comments.
    Our family was torn apart when I was only four years old and dad was denied visitation rights and moved to another state.
    Because I never knew the truth and he was a stranger to me I never got to know him.
    The poem was just an expression of regret and sense of emptiness where a father's love should have been.

    Thanks for a generous review and comments. There is a lot of emotion there even after dad has passed. Yes, that is my dad.

This free verse poem expresses well the emotions of one who has suffered a life time of "separation anxiety". It is a deep loss, no doubt. The word combination of "closed that space" powerfully expressed. :0 GracieAnn
