You capture the tragedy and destruction
Of the fires in California fires so well in your Sonnet.
Strong rhyme, meter and images.
Nice closing couplet to sum it up.

Well done Tom. I truly can not believe there is any of California
left that hasn't burned. Every year they face the same fate.
And yes, the animals that no one seems to laments. Such a shame. Enjoyable write.

Thanks Robin. Between fires, mudslides, and earthquakes, I'm not so sure that California is Paradise. I'll take my snow.

A good write about the forest burning. usually and act of art or very dry weather. Season after season the same thing goes on giving rise to billions in lot properties and other belongings.
A good write and well expressed.
best
Ritchie.

Thanks Ritchie. Between fires, mudslides, and earthquakes, California is not always Paradise.

excellent use of alternate-line rhyme in your quatrains followed by a solid rhyming couplet
good alliteration in stretches of the state
and in ponder property's
good consonance of F sounds in families left bereft
your meter isn't always consistently iambic, but the poem flows well when read aloud
You capture well the devastation of these fires
Brooke :-)

Hi Treischel. Same here in Australia, bush fires especially in regional areas. This poem shows the effects of this kind of tragedy to people, community, and the wildlife.
I haven't written a Sonnet. Is rhyming required? This is very well-written and I think it can also be extended into Quatrain? Cheers, Lex

Thanks Lex. Yes Sonnets require rhyming. Have you found Poetry Dances. It's right here under the "Home" tab. Once there, choose "All Poetry" there's a list of many, but not all, styles there. it explains them and gives examples. See if that helps. Then give the all a try and on time or another. Have fun!

I did not know that California has fires every year. But it is very hot there. Good that you ask attention for all the heartache it gives. This must have been what Words was writing about.

Those fires are terrible. We see some of them on the news here too. I do feel sorry for the people who suffer. The animals have it bad too. A good poem about it.

Thanks for teaching me how to say, scenery. I thought is was three syllables. I loved the art work of the fire and so sorry so many lost their homes. I loved the poem. Sonnets and Sestina are my favorite. The poem was perfect in its da da da da da da da da da da da. Good job.

California Wildfires sure have become a yearly talk of the nation. That photograph is scary. And you wrote this poem in Sonnet form. That's rare for a current event. Modern. Excellent poem.
