What a beauty! That last line is perfection too. SO true. Time waits for no one. I often get such a feeling of angst, knowing time is passing so quickly. This is lovely work Miss Vision. Well, storm moving in...must unplug! Hug! Susan

So, Time is a woman? That must be why they take all of it. :)
This odd pun aside, this excellent poem deserves everything that it received so far (awards, recognition and peer reviews). It flew delicately, as if it took the time to unveil itself to the eyes and the lips of the reader.

Alex :)

Congratulations on having this poem recognized. It is simply beautiful. I am seeing what you speak of not only in my mother...but I am feeling it in myself...I don't like growing old...I don't like time just turning the page.

I really wish I could give you a six, but I'm limited by the rules. This is a beautiful poem. A publishable poem. There's nothing more true than these words. And, of course, only your style could make me feel the way I do. Damn, Sharyn...this is really, really good and touched me. Congratulations.

Oh Rob - thank you SO much. I really value your opinion - you know that! I'm so glad. I've never really taken the time to write formal poetry, as free verse comes so easily - but I find that I'm enjoying the process. You bring a huge smile to my face - I'm always honored and delighted when someone "gets" my work.
    Big, appreciate hugs!

like everything about this poem. Just read a blog by this guy a little older than me writing about his indomitable mother getting frail and dying. Love the red that permeates this poem. You should write lots more poems. Thanks peace and happy day.

G'day my friend. I am currently inn the Philipines visiting my beautiful wife and baby so i have been a bit tardy with my reviewing. As is always the case with your work I loved this one. You, above all others on this site have the ability to take me to where your poems are heading, with smoothness and ease. Cheers Fez.

What a lovely , yet haunting sonnet. Beautifully crafted with great meter and unforced rhyme. I loved it. To add to its beauty, the truth of what you said is something we should all strive to in our poetry.

Isaac, I'm delighted! Thank you so much for your wonderful praise and your award of six stars on this one. Sonnets are not an easy write, and I always find them a challenge - so glad this one came 'home' for you. (Me too, actually - I was happy with how it came out).
Blessings, and again, a huge 'thank you'!

Very good, Sharyn, as usual. Definitely brings back slice of life moments of memories. Mostly of Mother and father who are gone, and the kids and grandkids who'll be taking our places. Very endearing poem. Cliff

Wonderful sentiments, very appropriate to the sonnet form. I loved the busy movement, the speed of childhood in the first stanza and the fulfilment of adult life, a time when we are still immortal. Your pivot line evokes all the uncertainty which life brings when we recognize the inevitable changes happening around us, and realise we are not immune to Time after all. Great rhyming couplet to complete.
The only thing I disliked was your use of the word "Inexorably" - I find it an ugly word anyway, but I am never sure of its stresses and for me it stumbles rather.
Still, an excellent contest piece.

oh dear - sorry you don't like inexorably ... actually, the pronunciation is inEXorABly (primary stress on 'ex', secondary strong stress on 'ab' which is a perfect scan, but it IS an awkward word, I agree ... To my ear, it sounds like the wheels of time slowly turning (my mother collected clocks, can you tell?) ... but never mind ... still glad you enjoyed it my dear! :)))s
