This is a fantastic entry. Certainly enjoyable to read and it has a scientific spin. I enjoyed the humor and creativity in people wanting to change their skin color to green, blue, etc. The last line was humorous too.
I'd just recommend switching the headings CONCLUSION and DISCUSSION.
Well done.

Okay, I'll admit it! You "got" me at the outset. I started reading and fell for it hook, line and sinker. Did I ever feel foolish as I read on and discovered it was a fake study! You've very cleverly used a scientific format and vocabulary to give this crazy idea an air of authenticity - and it works well. Very original.

It's actually a contest format. Deadline November 30th. It was a fun write.
Hey, I understand that you and I are both being acknowledged in Stan's book 'Snowbird.' how about that, two Canadians getting a nod from our American friend.

Great, isn't it? I'm really happy for him.

Me too. I think we were there right from the beginning. ingrid

Very clever satire. I got some great laughs from this. It comes across as a serious piece but then it become so outrageous that you have to give up trying to figure out if any of it is based on truth and just enjoy it.

As it was meant to...lol. the skin disorder was true, making MJ's skin all blotched with giant area void of all pigment which lead him to bleach to try and neutralize and get one color. The rest of course is all BS.

How much fun is this? So many wry, subtle inferences. You have a wild imagination, lady! Don't know if you were serious or not, but Michael Jackson's problems went way way beyond any skin problem.

Of course they did, but this was more about skin color being an option and using his particular dermatology issue as a starting point. Had a lot of fun writing this. thank.

When I first jumped into the read, I didn't bother to read the preface that it was satire. I was actually asking myself if Jackson's skin disorder was for real With that plant picture, I was buying into it. Then as I read further about the politics between red and blue, I wondered. It was an interesting concept about changing your color. I read somewhere that there is a man who turns blue. I know some people who can turn red.

And I know a couple that are always green...The skin condition was very real, but rather than have big patches of color, polka dot complexion, he underwent a bleach therapy trying to erase the large dark patches. True, but the plastic surgery is another thing entirely.

Okay, that was my thinking. I knew he was lied when he told people he only had a few nose jobs. I've tended to believe the white pigment problem.

You just made my day....Your Imagination is astounding and this was presented in such a way that in the beginning I thought it was factual. Had to skip to top and see what kind of a write this was.
Through genetic engineering the doctors reconfigured the formulas and developed shades of blue. While pleasing to the eye, the new race was an affront to the Republican party who had pandered and financially supported the experiments at Duke with specific instructions to create a population of red people
I feel sure this would be a priority for both parties. lol
Have a good weekend

Hello SE,
Hey, this seemed real. That was a great little entr©e' of Michael Jackson's skin disorder. It might be a fun thing, walking around in someone else's color. Reminds me of that old sixties film with James Whitmore, Black Like Me. Saw it when I was a kid, never forgot it. ;) Chrisfiore

Ha! Imagine the possibilities if this were real? I think I'd save up enough money to go purple. I've always been a Prince fan, and what better way of showing it than that? Purple Rain would be my theme song every time I walked into a room. It would be great. (Racist people could still called me "colored" or "darkie" though. LOL)
Nice article. :)

At first I was intrigued and said, "I didn't know he invested in this company or donated to them." I thought I knew everything about him. As the piece went on I was, in all seriousness, stunned, as if reading a serious news article. Then when you talked about mixing the pigments from 5 continents I was taken aback..finally had a good laugh with the rest of it.
I thought it was wonderful satire..great job!

It was meant to start and remin a true life issue for those that suffer...from whatever, misunderstood ailment, but there you go...I think you got it.
-
yeah, at first it was in all seriousness, but by the end it was like: was this part real??? I've never heard of this before..is this true? or were you embellishing on the issue. If I did misunderstand, I apologize. Being able to really change your pigment seems unbelievable..but, a lot of stuff is unbelievable to me these days...
The initial scientists on the project have all resigned, but through a leak at Duke University, the formulas have made it into main-stream America. Tattoo parlors have given up their penchant for body art, advertising full racial profile exchange plans and offering payment options. While the new flush of colours is not guaranteed for more than seven days, there are unlimited numbers of customers who have signed up for momentary fantasies. The five thousand dollar price tag for the procedure has not inhibited sales.
DISCUSSION
Without a historical past to interpret America's view on pink people or the new fad of green, scientists shudder at the possible loss of social hatred. As the head of the project stated, Mr. Hudson Smith, "I can't take responsibility."
The President was unavailable for comment.
