A very feisty piece Jaq and your message comes through loud and clear. This one really resonates with me as a mother. I find it so hard when my children are hurt. It's a natural part of growing up I know, but there are times that you would take their place in a second, if you could. It's knowing when and when not to intervene thats the hard thing. I don't think it ever gets easier. A mother's bond with her babies is unbreakable, however old they are.
Great little rant to let off steam. I'm sure with your support and guidance, your daughter will be fine. Liz.x

Thanks Liz I just hate it when people think they have the right to treat people badly. Especially my daughter. I know somehow that you would be the exact same. :) Jaq x

Hi Jaq
Lovely poem and yes I can understand your anger and feelings.
My wife used to work as a sheltered housing officer and I tell you those old girls can be right bitches, especially to other women. But a man comes along and they are as nice as pie. She has had trouble with her weight since our two boys were born twenty three years ago and the insults she had to endure made me angry. She just laughed at them. One day when one said what have you got to laugh at you fat cow, she turned around and scythingly whispered I'm laughing you old bag because you will one day be pleading for my help and I will not be able to get to you on time because I am too fat and you might die. She never said a insulting word again. We know too well, through her job, that they become child like again in old age and crave attention. They become really selfish especially when in care, they think they are paying for the care when some have not done a stroke of work in their lives. But they say I lived through the war for the likes of you. But they didn't they lived through the war because they were lucky to not get blown up by a German bomb. Tell your daughter to ignore it, there are some nasty old women out there and we have met a lot of them. A lot of people think they are all lovely old ladies. No matter how old and infirm they are not worth getting upset over if they are nasty. If they teat her with contemptm treat them the same. We are all the same and some think they are better.

Super poem.

Spike

    Yes Jaq

She learned how to respond after many years, Of course some were sweet and so nice to her but others were so rude. She took advice on how to respond from me as I take no crap from anyone.

Another brilliant piece! It just goes to show how strong a mother's bond and love can be for their child- they'll go to any extreme in order to keep them safe and happy. Lovely expression of this! I'm sure she'd be prepared to do anything to keep her daughter unharmed- even if that means a bit of a row with a fellow adult:)

Beautiful!

I liked it a lot. Nice rant about feelings probably only a mother can feel, it was a bit funny too, a little tongue-in-cheek. Good job!

oh good to have a rant every so often - a mother is always a mother, no matter how old the "child" and yes, you do always want to go to their defence - and I say GOOD FOR YOU!
