The message in here is very powerful and very well expressed. I especially like the picturees of the nightmares of bodies strewn, faces looking up. Meter a little off. Good proximate ryhning with anger andstrangers.

In this excellent set of quatrains, the poet sets forth his/her feelings about war, and also offers a reason for what war is, and why we end up in them. Since war is not a natural state
...alien to our ken
the reason set forth is:
War is just the governments way,
of blinding us from the truth,
"We have to save the people" they say,
but where the Hell's the proof!!
Excellent rhymes and imagery!

This is a great protest poem and actually refreshing to read as more often than not the war poetry I read on here is glorifying and supporting these useless causes. Sending young men and women to their death for the greedy few is heartbreaking. Well done and good luck in the contest.

Politics and religion are responsible for many wars. Our fate in retrospect is not their concern at all. They maintain their dominance over their loyal group to gain their admiration and respect as we all die on the scene.
