Thank you again, Patty for the nit pick, I do so appreciate the help here, I have taken it out now. It's great to know that your girls enjoy these stories. As they are aimed at children it helps to know that at that age they will enjoy them. Saying that, I don't know how old they are. I keep being asked at what age group are the stories aimed for, and quite honestly, I have no idea!! LOL! Thank you again! xsx

This is such a cute piece. I don't know how you kept the rhyme and flow up for so long and have it read so well. Great job with this.

Leave it to the Beaver. This was a fabulous children's poem. I'm sure the kiddies will love it. Could even be set to song! So thanks for posting this cute little ditty here, and thanks so much for the 8 points and 82 member cents (and maybe more).
cheers

Sandra, you have truly have outdone yourself with this chapter. The imagery you present has me feeling small enough to witness the things that all these wonderful characters are doing for Bodger. They remind me of my guy Cody.
This is so well written my friend. Another chapter you should be very proud of, cause, I know that I am.
Keep them coming Sandra,,,,,,,Jim xx

What a lovely thing to say, Jim!! Thank you! It is so nice to know you do enjoy my stories, even though they are for children!! The funny thing is, I get as much fun out of these as you get satisfaction out of yours, and for you to liken my little friends to Cody, and give it 6 stars is such a compliment, thank you so very much!! Always your friend, Sandra. x

You know I'm a sucker for your Hedgerow tales, Sandra, and this one's no exception. Charming, as usual :) the only tiny thing I'd change (personal preference, mind you) is:
He wanted just once to win the first prize, instead of
He just wanted once to win the first prize...what do you think?

Thank you so much for your input, Silverlock, it does work better and I have just changed it. I have had some incredible feed back from FS reviewers, all of which have been constructive and so very helpful. You are all a great bunch of people and I am so pleased I am one of you. Thank you for such a lovely review, and many, many more thanks for the 6 stars! I really am so pleased you are still enjoying reading them, thank you! xsx

I think I'm tired of saying, "Another great story"! But it is, I shall just have to find new ways to express myself.
The only bit I'm not happy about is the first two lines of the second stanza, because they're not really girls and boys, are they? Bodger is of their world so maybe they are strangers, but still animals.
One or two suggestions to improve rhythm,
"How long will it take?" enquired Tommy Mouse -
Sandra, here's a suggestion.
"Just at that moment he heard someone talk
It sounded like youngsters, all out for a walk/ enjoying a walk" - What do you think?
Anyway, I loved it, I am so looking forward to seeing everything in print with illustrations!

Thank you for these great suggestions, Hollyhock. I am going to change them The one I will have a problem with is the girls and boys, I felt uncomfortable with that too, I will work on that line. I am glad you are still enjoying these stories even more so when I get such helpful feedback. The illustrations in the first book, Hedgerow Capers, are amazing, Corrina from FanArt has done me proud, they are just brilliant. It's funny, now she has put faces to my names, I am imagining them when I write the stories as if they are real!! If you go into FanArt and click on corrinas creations, you will see some of them . Thanks again, Hollyhock, for the review and for the help! xsx

Have put another suggestion on the original review, hope it helps.

Hey!! that is brilliant, going to change it now! thanks a lot, you are wonderful!! xsx

I'M NOT THE RIGHT ONE TO TELL YOU HOW TO IMPROVE ON THIS CHAPTER.
I FOUND IT TO BE A VERY NOT ONLY INTERESTING STORY TO READ.
BUT VERY EDUCATIONAL TOO.

That is such a lovely review, misscookie, thank you. I did look up about the habits of the beaver and was amazed at how they build their dam and what they do to keep their winter food fresh. They are quite something. I thought I'd better get it right to a degree as beavers are more common in the US and Canada. We don't have them in England or Spain. I'm glad you enjoyed it, and thanks again for your lovely review. xsx
