Dear Grant,
I have to give you a 5 star rating for the strength of your technique in rhyme and metre, but I am more than a little confused with the opening line. Metaphor? Anecdote?
Regards
Reg

Well, there's a lot of food for thought here. Within the rhyme and meter there's a cadence of ups and downs all middle class and lower class people experience. A cadence the one percent can't begin to understand.

    Hi Doc,
I try to write so that nearly everyone can take their own interpretation from it by keeping it a bit obscure. I know this doesn't help you to see if you thought the same as my own perspective..lol...
Thanks for the comments my western named friend!
    cheers

This had the cadence and rhythm of a song to me. Terrific rhymes and near rhymes (arms/palms). I thought your non-use of punctuation was effective, i.e. Making planning saving face. It was not awkward and helped to keep the flow. An interesting commentary on life. Well done.

Good alleration. I liked the sing song effect of the rhyme. The flow was smooth and I enjoyed the read. Thank you for sharing. Recognition of the way, while wishing hopes and dreams to stay.

This is really brilliant! Chock full of memorable, bitingly true, phrases, and the most realistic one is this:

First to falter last to choose
accept the fact that you will lose

That's why so many give up. May as well. There's really verrrrry little room at the top, and it's just not true that "anyone can be a success" if he just tries hard enough. SO unfair to spread that lie that just makes people feel like failures. THe deck is stacked!

Once more I have to read your beautiful poems several times before I think I have the meaning. And when you don't completely understand, the flow and style is still worth reading. I am afraid I am one of the 99 who struggled to keep dreaming even when I knew it was wasted effort. I am so glad your back sharing your poems. Hugs your friend - Mona
