Hi apelle,

Okay... This one is certainly different and imaginative. Not at all what I expected. Cool that after everything had gone to hell, they got back together. Ain't love grand! lol

Thanks for sharing this interesting story with us & good luck in the contest!

smiles,

deb

I really enjoyed this! What a great take on the Romeo and Juliet scenario, and one, I'm sure, that everyone can understand with it's many facets. I suppose it could be compounded by the idea that without love we are nothing, so if the icons of true love fall out, what hope is there for the rest of the world? Well done, and good luck in the competition. Alexis x

Ha! Nice work and an enjoyable read. Thanks for sharing. One item. You wrote, "With her delicate and sensitive ego injured Juliet locked herself in her room and threatened with imminent suicide by swallowing a large amount of barbiturates from the family drug cabinet." Think you need a comma after 'injured'.

This is a riot, Apelle! In a brief write you have manage to tear the world apart and reunite Romeo and Juliet. Amazing. Great usage of words and a danged good handle on the rest of the world too.

Funny, modern take on the old story. I'm sure I've seen it played out just this way on Jerry Springer, on national tabloids, on twitter...

...but it seemed as (if) his romantic feelings have (tense - had) suddenly disappeared,...

Romeo and Juliet (Juliet's) brake (break) up took...

...where they made a living by picking up (can drop 'up') strawberries.

Good luck in the contest.

Other than the misspelling of brake (seemed like it should be break up) I loved it. I love sociological satires and going against the grain of cherished works. The melee that would ensue is quite riotous indeed. It would be a tabloid craze if this were a 21st century incident. People put so much faith in others love that if the two greatest lovers of all time couldn't stand the test, than who could. Especially like at the end the rekindling of the relationship amidst chaos. Fact is no one knows the facts and this is probably exactly how this whole event would play out.

Interesting take on these two ;p

suggestions: Romeo and Juliet /brake>break/ up took up the first pages of all tabloids and organized talk shows...actors were left jobless forced to migrate to foreign countries, where they made a living by picking (omit>up) strawberries...Romeo casually walked by Juliet's window one starry night smiling cocky and (propitious--means favorable)to her

Needs technical work.
