So glad that you had a horse named Lucky. He was sure lucky and well loved by your husband and one of your daughters. You found a relative's farm to host him and even found him a trainer.
Well done.
question: I revive a chapter of my novel A Genius Assistant so I can start posting more again. But how many bonus reviews does it get, two?

Thank you for the review and comments. I thought I'd answered this one before about your question but maybe I didn't hit save. What I said was for more than a couple of reviews you have to promote reruns up to at least page one or they want get much.

I have owned horses for years and have often witnessed the scenario you describe in your story. The worst is when parents buy a young, unbroken colt for their child who has never ridden. It is a disaster waiting to happen. An amateur horseperson or child should start out with an older well-broke animal. Your story is skillfully written. I'm glad no one was injured by your horse.

Thank you so much for the review and comments. My children never got the opportunity to ride Lucky but they did learn to ride horses at summer camp. One daughter especially enjoyed riding. I appreciate the review ans comments.

That was a great story, Beth. There are some amazing descriptive lines in here that really put a picture in my head:
'He read me like a flashing neon billboard.'
'I dropped the reins and grabbed the saddle horn and his mane and held on like an embedded tick.'
'I was forever cured of visions of galloping across golden fields on my own stallion.'
A couple suggestions to consider:
'Evan, had owned a horse... ' I don't believe you need a comma here.
'Unwilling to pay for boarding him... ' I think 'Unwilling to pay to board him... ' flows a little better.
Definitely a good story for the luck prompt. It made me chuckle at parts though I'm sure for you at the time, it was no laughing matter. Thanks so much for sharing.

Yes, stories like this one are fun to read about and give us a laugh now, but at the time those types of experiences are fun at all. LOL. I bred, trained, and raced thoroughbred horses my whole life, but even I've had a few of those dangerous times. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Ric. I wished I'd had a chance to ride a horse that might not have done that to greeenhorn. I think I could have enjoyed riding. With my ability to hang on, I might have taken up bull riding. LOL

One of our neighbours daughters and her mother, who was a country girl, both loved horses, my girls were close friends with them, growing up together, but only the older girl took up horses as an eventual living running an agistment place, and eventually racing horses, beautifully written Beth, well done, blessings Roy

Thank you, Roy. I wish I had actually had a reliable horse that I could have ridden. I think I might have enjoyed it.

That sounded like a dangerous ride and it is no wonder you sold the horse after that episode. I hope lucky has now settled down as he sounds like a wonderful horse and I enjoyed your brief experience with him, thank you for sharing your lovely story with us Beth, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

Thank you Dolly. I wish I'd had a video or tht wild ride. My family and I have laughed about it often, but it wasn't funny while it lasted.

You can laugh now because you were not injured, but things could have turned out very different Beth x x x

Oh dear, Beth, you were. Indeed lucky to survive or not being seriously injured. I know a fair deal about horses as I've owned a few. I used to compete in dressage.
You did indeed make all the mistakes a beginner can make. I'm so glad you survived to tell the story. Ulla:)))

Thank you Ulla, I actually like horses and I wish I'd learned to ride correctly. I just got on the wrong horse and he thought he show me what he was capable of doing. LOL

Excellent piece of work and well written. I liked the style, prompt but full of meaning. I like writing about horses and your real life/ non fiction. I highly recommend it to others.

Comment from Wayne Fowler
Yes, you were!
Very well written. I felt both Lucky's and 'your' pulse throughout.
We've had horses and I knew exactly what was going on in Lucky's head.
You did well to sell.
Best wishes.

Thank you Wayne. A horse doen't have to have it spelled out for him. He instinctively knows when he has a beginner on his back.

Yes, I know.
As i said. We had horses.

I could visualize this. What a dangerous ride! You and Evan certainly bit off more than you could chew when you purchased Lucky. To follow one's dream is a great idea but know when to let go. So glad you realized this.

Thank you for the review. It was my last time of being on a horse. Not that I would never get on again. I just haven't had the opportunity. but I would have never gotten on that horse again.
