It's not just poets, believe me. ANY writer on here that's not already rich has a hard time piling up those coveted member dollars in order to get just a handful of reviews, if that many. I totally hear you on this one. I offer you a congrats on your contest win, no matter how small you think it is. :)

i don't think any win is inconsequential. I think every posting and every contest entry moves you up the ladder and closer to your personal wishes for excellence. I suppose that the only thing I anted to accomplish in posting this submission is to take a gentle hand and say simply, you are all that you can imagine yourself to be. Go forth, young spirit and spit in the wind!

I like this lecture type of Essay because it is something that challenges the capabilities of someone. Especially so when it is written by one who, I think, is an authority on something; it makes the reader feel good. There is a mixture of artistry in the language used, I suppose. In formal Essay, which I learned in my early college speaks of elucidation, support of what you contend--straight--formal. Without offending, let me stress a point. In the second sentence, the author writes: "Some have compulsive need to expel their misery in blank pages, while others have the burning desire...These expressions, to me, borders, more or less to poetry...thus, the piece is a mixture of story and essay which is nice--like a mixture of Dane and German Shepherd resulting into a new brand of product--an admirable piece. Hence, the rating of 5.

I don't normally review prose, but have to admit your chosen art work caught my attention. Your essay held it throughout. Good thoughts don't make food for the gut, but they sure fill the spirit. I think I am going to donate what change I have left in my pocket the next time I see the Salvation Army bucket - which should be today. Wait a minute! I gave my last dime to FanStory. I'll scrounge around, maybe rob my piggy bank, and leave this computer behind before I throw more away.

My dear fellow Canadian, you say you aren't a poet, but you certainly are a writer of magnificent prose. I love an essay with a message, but when it's beautifully and precisely worded, I revel in it. This work was amazing. Your ideas are well organized and your comments appealing. Your introduction just has to draw the reader in. Who could stop after the first paragraph? Yes, you are a brilliant writer - and I'm glad that you know it and aren't afraid to say so. Write on!
