This story is heard every day in all the corners of the world. You have told it well in quatrains and the story of this life flows with a daughter who is brave. It is a wonder to me how father's can leave there children without contact, sometimes even when they sit at the same dinner table. You've sent my thoughts out to all the children who are strong and still able to give after they have been wronged.

afternoonlight, this is a pleasant surprise. I am always humbled and h0nored when a fanstorian stops by, takes their time to read and review a work that pays not one thing. This simple act tells me, you are hear to read, savor and enjoy the immense talent this place offers and also to hone your artistic craft. this means so much to me..again thank you..jlsavell

Well this is sadness and reality.
I am a child from a divorces family....but I am lucky to say that I never experienced such pain.
The honest is vivid a daughter 's pain.

Oh, pieces like this are so hard to read and I am so sorry for this sad turn of events. "Your promises were lies
Your happiness, my cost" A well written but sad piece, Jimi

Jimi! Nice to read you again friend, and what a one to it was! You describe the forever longing of a child abandoned by her father. One so young should never have to nurse a never ending wound in her heart, and just when they seem to have put it to bed...Knock! Knock! open the wound and welcome it in and watch it die, some people just don't deserve compassion, no matter who they think they are. Loved it friend, my kind of soulful writing, You are fine though friend? Course you are!

I'll never understand why some guys just can't seem to stick around. My husband's dad did the same thing though he came back, but I wonder if that was really such a good thing; he wasn't the nicest man. Anyhow, nicely done on this!

Jimi,
This is an excellent narrative poem of what seem to be rather selfish people. I appreciated it and couldn't find anything to criticize.

So heartfelt and beautiful. The stains we can leave on our children are often never seen. You did a wonderful job of expressing the thoughts of a little, girl, a teen, a happy bride with a hole in her heart, and a God gifted care giver.

"Legacy of Loss" is a powerful and moving quatrain. You touch the reader's heart with every word. Perfectly written and stated with good rhythm and perfect rhyme. Well done as always!

This is a very sad poem...to think the daughter took her father in after he abandoned her after all those years to take care of his needs. This is profound, and makes me wonder if I would do the same thing??? Thank you for sharing. Judy

Jimi, that was so very tragic and painful and you captured the mood perfectly. Not sure if it is true, but could indeed be. You pulled the reader right into your poem and it's sad story. Great work, Loyd
