I really enjoyed this story and remember well, the song about which you have written. Living in the land of make-believe is something that people of all ages can enjoy and of such things are writers born!
There are just two small changes to suggest ...

* You have - old man's pant leg ... I think this would be better as - old man's trouser leg ....
* You have - couldn't see where the voice was ... I think this should be - see where the voice was coming from ...
