What a wonderful tribute to an amazing man. I loved his movies and the fact that he was an all around good guy. I still can't atand the actor who killed him in "Cowboys".
You did a great job on this poem with the rhyme and flow. Thanks for sharing this.

Sixteezkid,
This is a most appropriate tribute to one of the greatest western stars to ever grace the silver screen. I love the structure and rhyming pattern of the poem, and of course, the subject. Nicely done.

great presentation, topic and tribute too! well written throughout; brings back memories too; not a thing to correct!
loved this:
"Our nation loved this rugged guy
A film star, even so...
He was a figure, honored high
True grit; no average Joe"
Great ending!

Roisin, yeah, I've been working a lot because I'm in lockdown with this severe weather. Staying in the sub-zero temperatures with tons of snow. I feel as though I've been transported to the Arctic Circle! Ha! So, I just keep on writing. Thank you for your lovely review. Sue

Ooooh! You're so lucky. What my children wouldn't give to see some snow. We haven't really had any here in the last four years or so. My five year old wouldn't even remember. Well, it's certainly doing your writing the world of good. Keep up the good work.
Warm regards.
Roisin

What an interesting choice for something to write about. The duke, the great one, my hero. You did an excellent job at writing about him. I found it really good. I have always loved John Wayne and any movie he is in. They are always my favorite.

This is a splendid piece of work. It captures the characters' spirit and sings his praises well. I think he was the hero of the screen for most of his life. I like the way you worked the name of his movie into the poem and left out his real name Marion.
If John Wayne reads this in heaven he will be suitablely impressed.

Sue - I am repeating myself but how do you do it? John Wayne was one of my favorite heroes way back when. I didn't miss any of his movies. And I like your rhyming scheme along with the fluid read. Great job. Charlie

Hi Charlie! So glad you liked this poem! As far as how do I do it? Being holed up in this house due to zero degree weather and 12" of snow, I'm trying to stay sane! LOL!!! Whew! If it weren't for writing, not sure how long I WOULD stay sane. Thanks for your great review. I always appreciate you stopping by. :-)) Sue
