I actually do enjoy watching the oscars being a movie buff myself[over 500 in my own collection], they have there own little room,no not velvet, ha ha. I don't always agree with the choices but they do excite little old Hitcher. OH happy new year! I'll Catch up later Sue, I'm just catching up on as many messages and reviews as possible, life is hectic at the moment to say the least. You did a great job with the cinquain.

Hitch! So glad you've come out from the laundry room! Are you still Mr. Mom?

I tell you, I haven't been able to read much here or catch up on my messages either. The holidays kept me a lot busier than I thought this year. And a few other things. And I don't think I'm ever going to get my first blue star on reviewing!

Can't believe I have found someone else who has as many dvd's as I have. My last count was over 400. I haven't missed any of your work have I?? The inbox is getting full but I don't think I have.

Thanks so much for your review and Happy New Year!!

Lovely, upbeat poem. Makes me excited about the upcoming Oscars. You have a great entry for the contest. Love the pic too. The poem is a little ray of light.

Warm regards.

I wonder how the award came to be called the Oscar. I enjoyed the ultra short poetic format. I have nothing in the way of a suggestion for it.This was my pleasure to have read and reviewed it... John

Two stories have always been around as to how it got its name but cannot be verified: !http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_did_the_film_statuette_Oscar_get_its_name - Thanks so much for your very kind review! And Happy New Year! Sue

An interesting slant on the
upcoming Oscars and the poet's
pick set in the form of this
unique Cinquain, so artfully
constructed.
Well done

As much as I love the award shows they have lost their luster for me. I thought this was a very well done short poem.Good luck in the voting booth.

Sixteezkid,

Your cinquain is well-done, original, light, clean, and positive. You have given clear imagery and have provided a story line to the reader in these 22 syllables. Nicely done.

Me too! Me too! I loved this and thought it was well thought and well written. Love the photograph, as well. Carry on and good luck in the contest.

I absolutely HATE watching award shows! YUK! But, be that as it may, for those who do like them, this is a great cinquain explaining the whole process in a few short lines.
Love to see you out there expanding your horizons cuz!

this one gave me a bit of a chuckle...
normally cinquain forms are so serious and yet you
found a way to bring a bit of humor into one... way to go!
you really are becoming a versatile poet and one to be reckoned with. Nice job!

Susan, thank you so much for this very generous review and your kind words! Trying to be versatile - that's why I enter these contests. They are great to help one really think about each and every word used. Happy New Year!! Sue

Stunning picture and colour choice, Sue.
I love the superb alliteration in the first three lines.
'picks, popcorn' is also great fun, though I'm strugglin ta get the final message. I'm sure that's just me bein dense. Maybe you're saying that as you get over 21 that it's easier ta relax and watch? Thought-provoking!
Good luck anmd best wishes, Ray xx
