Interesting read. Love the darkness portrayed in this work. Very well written. The idea of a vampire quickly jumped at me with the first few lines.. Good work

I don't believe in the devil, but for those that do, this sure does come across as menacing! I find no fault with form or rythym.

This is very intriguing, very dark and also well written. It flows where it should and the words all work together to create the dark mood.

Hi Dk,

Yet another dark and almost threatening piece of work.

strange thing is that you have an ability to threaten without creating anxiety, almost invoking a hypnogogic state ith just your words, the colors and the images.

O.k I'm hooked where do we go next?

Regards,

Neil.

Your color choice for font and/or background make this rather hard to focus on and read, however, the content is superb and very well written. Lea Ann

I would say that the character in this piece is coming to terms with his "acceptance" into hell.
Dark themed poetry does not bother me. I believe it is a distinct style of writing. Everyone has a dark side within, it is just a matter of how they manage it. Nice work.

Not sure I completely understand this, but your beautiful words go together so well creating a frightening picture. I do like this a lot. Chloe

Dklrdmcches, is it too obvious that Death is speaking? Am I seeing something that is not there, or is there something deeper that I should be seeing? The first stanza in particular leads me to these questions. Well, you certainly have made me think (your intention, I believe).

I have a little problem with the last line of the second stanza. I believe that "Death" is saying that her/his perch, s/he cannot be seen by the reader, but it doesn't exactly say that, nor does it read well. If my interpretation of the line is correct, "in which you cannot see" might be replaced by "invisibly." It is two syllables shorter, but reads well--reads even better if you remove "that" from the previous line.

Also, in the last stanza, I do not think that "destination" is the word you want. The destination is where you end up; it is the journey to that destination that is short.

I think you have something good here, it just needs a little polishing. Don't give up on it.

I believe that you have misinterpreted the piece. The individual is walking into a forest with a demon sitting high in a tree and cannot be seen. The line "your destination is a short one" is absolutely the way I want it to be. It means that if you continue down the road you are traveling, your destination will be short...dklrd

    I stand corrected.

That is, though, one of the beauties of poetry, isn't it? It is often impressionistic rather than literal. Because of this, the reader may unfold an interpretation that is not entirely, or at all, what the author intended. It reminds me of a friend who has for years painted for the pure pleasure of it. He was showing me through his home because I had asked to see his work. We came to a landscape that he had painted for his wife. In the lower portion of the painting were some slightly skeletal late fall trees. His wife said , "What lovely ----s! " (I forget what flower she indicated). She noticed that her husband was a little taken aback. She asked, "That is what they are, aren't they?" "They are now," he answered.

Its a nice piece and so enjoyable to read throughout.
The imagery is wonderful and I did like it.

My favorite stanza:

Your destination is a short one,
A trip that has only one outcome.
A visitation to the one and only Lord.

I wasn't at all sure how to interpret this poem
but I like the poetic imagery in its line of thought
and I have no suggestion for this well written verse
this was my pleasure to have read and reviewed it... John
