I've always admired waterfowl, too. Impervious to the weather, they seem to live a tranquil and upbeat existence until the hunter comes. Last year, I was taking my dog for a walk on the beach. Two pelicans were having a great time surfing the incoming waves. It was a marvellous sight. All good wishes, Jesse, from your good friend, Tony.

Wow, that must have been an amazing sight! I've never had a chance to see pelicans surfing incoming waves. Thanks for stopping by.

I consider you a great friend as well.

What excellent fun! I spend far too much time watching geese, ducks, swans and, yes, pelicans in the esturary. I like the logical progression of this one and the creative last line sums them up.
Alliteration, (think that's not the right spelling) and internal rhyming, repetition... you've used a lot of poetic conceits in one mightily entertaining piece.

Thanks so much for this six-star review and for explaining in detail why you found it entertaining. I love watching geese fly by in formation, honking and having a good time. I appreciate you noticing the poetic devices I used to convey the message of this poem. Have a beautiful day!

Hi it is wonderful when you think of the marvels Nature made and makes. Each and every creature adapts to its environment to survive. They do not try to stop the rain that is part of their subsistence like us human. We destroy what we really depend on and then complain about it. They do not.
I have learnt a lot from your write, thank you

Benny

Creatures that adapt survive best. They learn what it takes to strive forward come rain or shine. I enjoyed your poem. Tom Hanks narrates a good nature show on NBC that we streaked it was amazing close up video of animals in nature. You'd like it I think. It was relaxing too, very well made.

Best wishes my fowl friend, ha

Alex

Very smooth read. By the sound of it, you'd like to be a bird of some kind. There are some mighty fine birds in this world. You've incorporated the weather with activity thus showing your last line to be a great summary.

It is so true. Geese, ducks and pelicans do not care what they weather is, they continue to live and fly. We can learn from them. I love poems about nature and your words bring up important points about these birds, they teach us much. Excellent poetic form and a theme that takes the reader to another place.

Hi Jesse
Wouldn't it be nice if our skin and clothes were made to repel wetness so rain and snow wouldn't make us wet? I always though I would like to come back as a bird because I would like to be able to fly and see the vistas from the sky. The waterproofing would be great too.
Keep writing and stay healthy.
Have a wonderful day.

A nice poem about our feathered friends. I really enjoyed reading this poem about the different types of foul in our lives. It is interesting how each one is a little different too. Keep up the great work!

Pelicans, ducks and geese are at home near and in water so Mother Nature gave them waterproof feathers.

That allows them to fly when it raining too.

The water just runs off their wings and body.

It would be fun to live just for a day as one of them .

To see the world from a bird's prospective.
