Wow! What a history lesson on hamsters! I never knew these things Cecilia and I had many hamsters when I was young. This is a clever little poem about the hamster and the photo is perfect too! Keep up the excellent work!

    Harry,

Thank you for the wonderful review. I learned quite a bit about the hamster myself. I also had them growing up. Glad you enjoyed the poem.

This is a very nicely written poem about the hamster for our dear friend angel Debbie, and I very much enjoyed listening to it and I very much enjoyed Sydney seeing your presentation. Also, you're in notes are very informative. Patricia.

This is a very interesting creature -So they must have their babies when they're only a year old!!! and no wonder they only live 2-3 years - that many kids would drive anyone to an early grave!
Great post.

In some ways I am jealous of the fore mentioned Mouseketeer amorous the way they are and then I think three years is too short to enjoy the kids she's apt to bear so I think I'll stay where I am

    Tom,

Thank you for the wonderful review. Three years is a really short time, especially if you are bearing babies a majority of the time.

This is cute, and a great way for children to learn about hamsters - let them discuss your poem in class versus reading a boring biology book. I didn't know that hamsters chase away their males. Interesting fact.
Thanks for sharing.

    Yolanda,

Thank you for the wonderful review. The female prefers a solitary life. She only needs the male for one thing. Ha, Ha

Well, I never knew all that about hamsters! I don't think we have them here, though we do have the similar guinea pigs. You packed a lot of info and humour into a few stanzas. The only thing I'd question is the word "sowing". I can't work out what ever-growing teeth have to do with planting seeds.

    Sallyo,

Thank you for the wonderful review. That word was used just because I needed something to rhyme.

Love the little balls of fluff, but they don't live long and after a few tear filled nights with the kids, they became a non pet in my house.
Another great animal poem, Cecilia.

They look cute , they remind me of a guinea pig.

I'm sure they can be great pets. The only thing that I don't like is that they live only two to three years.

I would be constantly heartbroken .

Already dogs and cats live far too short.

Rabbits also eat their own poop for nutrients. ( biggrin)

    Tempeste,

Thank you for the wonderful review. I had a hamster growing up, but I don't remember what happened to him. They are great pets.

You have taught us a lot about hamsters in this well-written poem. I had one once and almost immediately had four. The parents had me con four friends to take them. Mama hamster kept biting me, so I was not sad. Now I know why she had babies within two weeks of me getting her. They are a remarkable critter. Thanks for the info including what you didn't include.

    Carol,

Thank you for the great review. Hamster's are baby making machines. Their gestation is just a few weeks. I try to make these educational.

Thank you for sharing about this type of rodent. He is so cute! I always confuse gerbils and hamsters and guinea pigs. But now I think I can see the differences better. Thanks for all the great info!

    Helen,

Thank you for the great review. Yes, hamsters are the smaller of the three and much cuter. Glad you enjoyed the poem.
