I used to watch Minnie Pearl every week on "Hee Haw" but not until 1991. It was enlightening to learn how she created her character and was even a dance teacher. Very nice share.
I think another reviewer pointed out there were quite a few punctuation fixes. So...this would definitely get six stars for content, but the punctuation made me have to slow down several times.
Here are a few I found:
She is a fine example of the Mark Twain quote: May you live a life so full and so well, that even the undertaker is sorry you are gone."
Just add quotation marks before May you.

In 1992, was awarded the National Medal of Arts, the highest award given to artists by the United States government for her half-century of work.
Just put the word she in front of was awarded. Or else call her by name there, since there is no subject.

In 1975 she won the County MusicHall of Fame award.
Just put a space between Music and Hall.

You got my six, Karen. This is a great story, and I remember her well. I didn't watch the Grand Old Opry, but I did listen to a few segments. I believe she was on Hee Haw and I did watch that - BR-549 - and loved the music and humor. Great story and congratulations on being awarded Story of the Month.

Alas, I have a couple of comments: You may think I'm nit picking, but I think self-editing is important (I'm obsessive about it) before submitting a story for the sole purpose of not distracting the reader from the true message you're putting forth. This is a wonderful, beautiful story, but it could be so much better if the minor glitches weren't so noticeable. For example, "...town of "Grinder's Switch..." you forgot the closing quotes. Then, "...top ten single songs.." two periods; "...Gotta marry off our Daughter( with Grandpa Jones)" if this is the title of a song, then "marry" and "off" should also have the first letter capitalized and the space should be between "Daughter" and the parentheses; "...a lot of other peoples albums...." "peoples" needs an apostrophe because it's possessive.

I hope I'm not being harsh, but you're a wonderful writer and a little proofreading before you submit a piece would make good writing shine.

I hope your day is pleasant and you're well. Frank.

This was a really well written biography on this unique woman entertainer, Minnie Pearl. I like how you started out with a history of famous woman comics and then centered on Minnie and her contribution to the world of comedy and entertainment.

I thought it was interesting how her background was so different from the persona she became. That takes a special talent to develop a persona different from your own and carry it off so convincingly. She was a special lady, and you did her justice with this fine piece, Karen.

Thanks for the review. I wanted to write about someone not talked about much. That's why it took me three months to find out enough stuff to write about!

Hi Karen,

I'm old enough to remember Minnie Pearl, but I never knew about her life. I enjoyed all the details you shared, especially how a mistake and her reaction to it helped create an everlasting character the world loved. Congratulations on your win!

Thank you so much. It was my first attempt at a biography here. I usually write crime with humor.
    I appreciate the review. Karen

I am not familiar with this person although she looks so familiar for some reason. I enjoyed reading your biographical story and love how you chose to write about a female comedian. You brought her to life. It is evident that a great deal of work went into this. So well written and I like how you separated out the paragraphs - it helped to really take in each milestone. Thank you for sharing.
Best wishes,
Amelie

I appreciate the review. I am snocked how little some of our trailblazers are known. She was one in a million.

I enjoyed reading your very informative essay about women comedians, with your primary focus on Minnie Pearl. I enjoyed watching Minnie on Hee Haw, and thought that was all there was.

Personally, Moms Mably and Joan Rivers made me laugh hysterically with their stand-up routines, but I looked forward to Minnie Pearl. Thank you for letting us know how full and meaningful her life was.

Minnie Pearl never met anyone who didn't become a friend. I got some of my humor from her, some from Erma Bombeck, and others. Minnie was a trailblazer, and a much admired lady. Thanks for the read. Karen

Such a nicely crafted dissertation on the role and history of women in the entertainment business. So much in here about Mini Pearl. I love how Johnny Cash presented that award. I so recall her on HeHaw growing up. That show was coming in rated real high week after week. My favorites will always be LUCY! and Carol Burnett. My wife and I visited Jamestown and the Lucy museum. Great trip!

Wow, I sure would have enjoyed that. She was great. But Carol is my favorite. She is so talented in her characters. Who will ever forget "Went With the Wind"or Momma's family? Thanks for the read. Karen

This is a neat tribute to all the female comedians and especially Minnie Pearl. I always liked her and grew up with her and Tennessee Ernie Ford on television.

Who can forget Tennessee Ernie Ford on the I Love Lucy show? And his voice? Minnie was a great lady. Thank you for the review and the six. Kren

Let me start by saying I am an African American man of color. After Elon Musk, I feel the need to make that distinction. I loved Minnie Pearl as much as any good ole boy from the deepest part of the South. Why? Because Minnie Pearl belonged to America, All of America. Black, white, Asian, Latino, Jewish, maybe even Arabian. She was a genuine jewel and yes, she is missed. Thank you so much for writing this awesome mini bio on a great American gem.

Winter has had me down, but I am coming back. Mid November to Mid March is my worst time of year. Allergies and back pain.
I am getting better. Weather is not dependable anymore. But, we keep keep plugging along. Best wishes to you and yours, Karen
