This is chapter has plenty of action from beginning to end, including a dreamscape. Sam's character feels relieved to be with his wife, Sarah, again and alone. But it seems one good night is all they are going to get, with that noise from the roof, whether or not it is coming from nearly innocent or nearly mischievous squirrels or not. And hopefully it was just a car making a turn from the driveway, but with the new onslaught of text messages, the reader wonders what Sam will have to respond to next. He's looking at his phone but not necessarily texting back as his wife catches him, or maybe she merely follows and looks over at him for a moment on the way to the bathroom, perhaps.
The only thing I noticed, but it was late at night when I read this, is that I would say "blood-curdling." Or else all one word: bloodcurdling.

How mysterious was this episode, Sam getting himself into trouble, by heis own consideration for his wife, who were those that were in the escaping, and who indeed were scurrying in there house? Beautifully written Stan, blessings Roy

Well done

Good chapter, Stan. Such a sweet scene between Sam and Sarah as all seems to be forgiven. A very tastefully done scene in bed too as they become reacquainted with each other sexually.
It seems like the secret has to come out soon now, and I wonder how this currently fragile relationship will hold up.
I liked the mystery of this night time disturbance.

I like how you describe the tender reunion of this couple. They have been through so much that could have ruined their relationship and her mother made things worse. Still, there is a haunting feeling for Sam's sense of responsibility for Taylor and her baby. I wonder if the speeding car dropped off her baby to adopt?

Thanks so much. I appreciate to know that it plays out like that in the reader's mind.

Stan.
In the beginning Sam's enjoying some redemption with, and from his wife. Things may even be headed back to normal. He obviously enjoys the current situation. Things, regrettably, shift unexpectedly. His problem reared its ugly head once more. The stress on him is heavy. Words he might not want to hear are pulling him back to his fractured world. The tension builds. Nice job of placing this in the story.

He might be in the doghouse again. I sure hope not. Your story is well-written, very interesting. I loved how you added little pieces of their history it made them seem more realistic relatable. I look forward to reading more.

You are doing a very good job of keeping us in suspense and I am very much enjoying your story. It flows very well when it is read aloud and it sends chills ofpleasure up and down my spine to hear the words as are spoken. Patricia.

Sam needs to be honest with his wife. And it's almost too late to be honest. I have a feeling this dream meant something. What will he do now. I can't wait to find out. Great writing.

This is such an emotional read! You've created a deeply intimate story.
The difference between Sam's tender moments with Sarah and the eerie dream sequence is so well done. It kept me on edge. This feels like the beginning of something much bigger - what's Sam about to uncover? Incredible book so far!
