Barbara,

This is a wonderful story. I always love hearing stories about your family. There is never a dull moment when your grandchildren are around, that's for sure.

Well done

Cecilia

I had a neighbor, when we lived in Germany. They had no children and when her husband went to the field, she'd come down to my house. She said there was always something going on. She was right. LOL Thank you for the kind review.

Hello Barbara,
though it's taken me four days to get to this, I'm glad I did. You're a wise and compassionate grandma. Jan often speaks of picking your battles. We have kids scattered around the country, so we don't see them all that often. That's probably a good thing on the one hand, as I don't have the patience that apparently the kids have with their children. I like it when they grow up more and can be reasoned with, more or less. Your story is delightful though gal. I'm glad you're writing about this.
Have a blessed evening.
Tom

I love Christmas with all the family, but like you, sometimes I have to share with my son's wife's family. I get on well with them and we each are happy to share. I love the snail condo! I love the stories about young children, their innocense is so rewarding when we remember those times. Well done, Barbara. Looking forward to reading your next chapter now. :)) Sandra xx

Oh, sounds like a wonderful Christmas for you and the kiddos... so glad you had the time together! :) And I know exactly what you mean about the cooking, having raised three boys and now on my own, I will go on 'cooking spurts' and then have tons of leftovers in the fridge to go through! :) Thanx for sharing your smiles with us!! ;) Yvette

The central significance of this post is your obvious love for your family and granddaughters. How nice that your sons' mom knows children so well. I have my undergrad in Nursery, Elementary, and Special Education and my Masters in Reading Emergent Reader through6K-12. So, I can fully appreciate the knowledge and experience you bring to your relationship with your granddaughters. What a lovely post. Possibly you could create a small collage including a family photo too. Thank you for sharing! Your home must be too quiet again now. :(

Have a good day,

Yep. We're far from family, too. I do understand. You're welcome. 😊

A heartwarming and endearing piece bringing me feelings of nostalgia myself. Thank you for sharing this, its refreshing to read this almost journal-like account, it's kind of like I jump out of my life and into yours for a short moment. My kids recently had the flu last month too, it's been bad this year.

Thanks for sharing this, keep writing!

Hi Barbara, another charming
family story, I look forward to
the installments. You are the
2nd writer I know who was a
schoolteacher. I hope you and
your husband have a good
Texas day. Many blessings :)

If there is one thing you can guarantee about kids, they are all different. I always liked the quirkier ones best when I had my own classroom or was substituting. Your Eli would have been one of my classroom pets.

Seems to be a terrible flu bouncing about the country. Hope they are better.

Sounds like a tremendous visit! Not a grandparent yet, but I can imagine all the hoopla and events. I'm sure you loved it.

Thank you for the support. I appreciate it. Being a grandparent is great. The end of April I become a great grandparent.
