How sad, it doesn't seem possible that a dog with a master still alive and responsive could turn his coat, whatever the conditions, but dogs becoming ownerless and desperate could be different, well done, but much better with a faithful dog. Good job, blessings Roy

Thanks Roy! Not a dog owner so I guess I need the insight for a better ending now coming soon. I appreciate the review.

Jackson,

This is a great story. It is sad that Gus took off with the wild pack and Barrow had his throat cut out. Hopefully, Brenden will survive his adventure.

Had to be a feeling of dread and desertion there... Although, as a dog person most of my life, I can't imagine that Gus wouldn't have been in that little cave with him and standing in front in defense of his master/friend at the morning light. Well written. Thanx for sharing.

Thanks Y.M! I got another review that basically said the same thing, and as I am not a dog owner I appreciate the insight, which will now lead to a better crafted ending. Great reviewer here!

Your story pulled me right into the icy world Brenden was trekking through. I felt the biting cold. I loved how you captured the tension between Brenden, Gus, and Barrow - it added so much emotion. The wild dogs stalking them brought a sense of danger. And that twist with Gus at the end was haunting! Your descriptions of the harsh environment made me feel like I was right there with them. This was gripping from start to finish. Amazing work!
