As guilty as you've made Trenton appear, you've always left a slight chance that there might be another excuse for his late nights, excessive jewelry tickets, and distance. Whatever he does with his time, Marsha still feels neglected, which won't work forever. :-) Thanks for sharing.

Thank you, Ric. He is very quick with his somewhat logical sounding answers, but lawyers usually are. Marsha is having trouble accepting so many excuses at once.

This chapter moved the story along, the writing was clear and to the point, I am anxious to see if this man stays sober, and faithful.I like the female character.

All the signs of cheating by Trenton are there. The clincher being "expensive jewelry and lingerie" that is not Marsha's.

"What are doing rummaging" should be What are you doing rummaging.

In bottom note "She had spoken" should be She has spoken - to keep the entire note in singular tense.

Beth,

This is a great story. It seems Trenton has a big problem now that Marsha said enough. It is well organized and flows nicely from beginning to end.

Well done my friend

Cecilia

16 chapters already? That has gone fast!

A good chapter with a lot of well written dialogue to move the story along and tell us what's going on. Trenton had a handy answer for everything, didn't he?

Look forward to the next chapter.

Thank you, Pam. I find it hard to believe I've gotten that far with it too.

Trenton certainly has all the answers rolling off his tongue - a "fine" explanation for everything, but he is not very convincing. Marsha is right to take a stand and insist on a break and a possible new start. Trenton still has time to make a decision and turn things around, but I wonder if he will? He seems to like having more than one woman and thinks he can get away with it.

Edit: When she asked If (if) she could speak

Thank you, Wendy. I guess having ready answers works well for a lawyer but it has stopped working for Marsha.

Good for Marsha!! I wonder if he will go to that woman. He knows now that his wife is no longer a pushover, and he must be sweating a bit. A divorce will cost him loads! You wrote this chapter really well, I could imagine it playing this way. Trent was ready with his answers having had time to think about it after the last phone call. Now he has some more thinking to do. Is the other woman worth it? Is she pregnant!!!!? Well done, my friend. I love this story. Have a wonderful Christmas, and a happy, healthy 2025. :)) Sandra xx

I won't be posting this week, I have to rest my eyes now that my cataracts have thickened so much. I can hardly see out of my left eye. I'm having surgery in February, (so they tell me!) xxx

Thank you, Sandra. I know you'll be happy once the cataracts. It wasn't bad at all. Very easy unpainful surgery. I'm so glad you are liking this story. I appreciate the six stars.

Trenton is a master of quick thinking, and has a feasible answer for everything. His answers are so good that I'm beginning to hope he is telling the truth. However, Marsha is wise to take precautions because all of her suspicions may be accurate.

Thank you for the nice review. Yes, Trenton always has an answer, but Marsha is no longer believing him.

Hooray for Marsha! She stood her ground and laid it out clearly. The only thing I wish she had mentioned is the woman who called as probably that woman wants to Trenton to pay for her rent and expenses. Hopefully, this is a good wake up call for Trenton but since he's so unrepentant and still claims to be innocent, it sounds like divorce is on the horizon.

Thank you, Helen. I've never had to remind you of anything before, but Marsha had started questioning him before he found an excuse to get off the phone. She had asked about the lady who called and missing paychecks. As to the lady, he claimed she was a client who always acted as if everything was a matter of life and death. There were other who had forgotten about that.

Oh. That's right. She did bring it up and he had to "go". Thanks for the reminder. Too much in my brain these days. I thought it was worth bringing it up in this conversation, too. It would make her case for a separation stronger.

You're continuing to tell your story well, and taking this reader right along with you. I can't imagine that it is going to end well, not with all the facts laid out clearly. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you. Hugs, Verna
