Hi Roy,
Many times, I think of myself as younger than I am, and with lots of hair, too. If only I could look like the way I feel. Then I watch the video of the worship team from the past Sunday morning. The hair on top of my head is so thin and fine that it looks like I'm completely bald! Not so! I liken it to tree cutters in the woods. They don't clear cut. Rather, it's selective cutting! LOL. I get out of bed in the morning, and look in the mirror before washing my face. Who is that old man??? I wrote a poem back in February called "The Old Man in the Mirror"... "the older I get, the younger I feel"... why is that? George Harrison was on video commenting about the idea of feeling young while growing old.
I guess it would be nice to look like James Dean, or some other handsome devil, but I write poetry instead. And so do you, buddy!
"My thoughts will dream of better days
when Jimmy Dean had stole my ways." ... ( a good way to look at it, Roy! James Dean was nothing but a copycat!)
Nicely penned!
Blessings,
Kimbob

Thanks for sharing this cool poem Roy. I had an obsession with movie stars when I was a child. He had such a short life as did Buddy Holly who was another idol of mine. How great to look back and see a photo of you looking like James Dean. If you find it you should frame it or put the photo in a key ring for your car, if you drive. My look alike I'm told is Wednesday Adam's from Adam's Family, lol! Thank you for sharing. This was a fun read.
Best wishes,
Amelie

I have an old black n white photo of Tony sitting on his MGB in the early days of our romance. I love that you had some fun with this one, Roy, all coming from thoughts of that photo of the goodlooking young man leaning against his car.
The good thing is you've had a long and loving life unlike James Dean.
cheers,
valda

Ciao!

He played a troubled teen in both East of Eden ( which I love ) and Rebel Without a Cause and that combine with that rugged beauty , he became an icon and later a legend.

In real life he was troubled too and his death at only 23 was tragic.

Usual folks say : I look like James Dean ..

Anyway, hopefully the comparison stopped at the good looks.

James was the brooding type, definitely "damaged goods ".

Despite all the fans , he wasn't happy.

Hello Roy,
I never had anyone say I looked like any real famous movie star, although several people told me I looked like the small bit actor who played the boat captain in the movie Jaws. He wasn't especially good looking, in fact he looked like an old salt, which suited me just fine. You're still and handsome man Roy, just don't let it go to your head.
Have a blessed day.
Tom

Many of us look back on when we were young, heart trobs in our own right. I often say myself, if only I looked like that today, but with the wisdom of my current years. Well, we all can dream... But we ho is to say that it wouldn't come true, it takes faith to believe. Nicely written.

I think most guys must have a photo like that, wearing jeans, leaning against their first car. I've seen one of my husband like that as a late teen. I'm sure Jimmy Dean looks just like you! This is a fun poem. Carol

I don't know if you've seen the movie "Bonnie and Clyde". It was popular when I was in grade school. During a break one day in class, a classmate said I looked like Michael J. Pollard, the comic relief in the film (I didn't). Soon the entire class was laughing at me. I try to avoid looking like film stars now.

James Dean was definitely the heartthrob of the day all those years ago. I was only 7 when he died but his image snd impact lasted well into my teens. And many a photo was made during that era of teen boys wanting to be just like him. It was sad when his physical presence ended so young.

A fun poem of days gone by when we were young. I smiled all the way through it as I pictured one of my uncles leaning against his beat up Chevrolet, smoking a Lucky Strike.

I loved it.
Blessings
