Hi Coren,
This is a nicely done free verse which has a strong extended metaphor throughout. The library is a inventive new one for a graveyard. And it is fitting. It is sad that at sometime on Earth their will be no one to carry your memory. I like the faith shown in the end of the poem which brings hope to the poem.
Keep writing and stay healthy
Congrats of placing third in the contest
Have a great day.
Joan
P S I would like you to know I just published my first book called "The interloper and other stories in prose and poetry".

    Thank you Joan.
I was excited about my third place finish.
Yes, we will be forgotten here and even our gravestone will one day crumble.
    Thanks for the review!
I saw your book was on amazon, I'll go check it out

Don't mention it. If you decide to buy it, I would like to know how you liked it.

This is a lovely reflective poem that had me strolling down memory lane when I used to visit the local cemetery as a kid with my grandfather. He used to make up stories of the people burred-some sad, some happy but most forgotten by everyone but those who knew them.
Also love comparing it to a library! One where you never get a late fee :)
Great work and good luck with the contest

! I love how you compare a graveyard to a library. You made me think about the richness of the stories contained within each headstone. The desire to hear the stories behind the names is shared so well. It makes me think about the lives lived. Keep up the wonderful work!

Thank you again Michael! Yes, so many lives lived and so many stories nearly forgotten that live on only in those who knew the deceased best.
I appreciate you reading my poems and sharing your thoughts!
