This is so delightful. I feel as though I've discovered a great new writer. Not sure if this is memory failure or not, but these last two reads are, I think so different to anything else I've read of yours. They really appeal to my irreverence. And I like that. Maybe I just need to double my medication.

Weren't all of the original fairytales much darker than the more modern Disney versions? I bet those dwarves ate Snow White for dinner.....or such.
Good read!

Aargh. Depends whether she was an entree or desert, right?

That's an interesting tale. I'm not sure what the dwarfs did after the story ended or if we should care. The fact that they didn't shower much kind of smells up the story (please forgive my misguided attempts at humor). Anyway, the story is interesting, imaginative, and fun to read. The note regarding the Grimm brothers and their work is very interesting. Evi

Who would have thought the thoughts Grimm Bros had back in the 1899's?

Hi Tom,
I've never given much thought to Grumpy, Sneezy, Dopey and the others. For a cartoon character, Snow was kind of hot, but it's hard to have a relationship with someone whom everyone knows. I'm sometimes surprised at where my brain wonders in the quiet hours of the night. I don't normally put those thoughts out for public scrutiny thought. You're a brave man.
Have a blessed day.

You were trying to get to the convention? As I assume by how some people talk, we were all at our best looking so I would have been 45, walking and dancing. I would have asked your wife if I could have a dance with you. I just sent Debbie a bunch of stuff on the Grimm brothers. I told here I was bingeing on "Grimm", and she said they would make a good story, so I downloaded some stuff and sent it to her via email. She writes great biographical poetry. Your story seems fine to me. But, some folks think I am nuts, so there you go! Karen

What kind of nut might you be? Previous I was a Pecan but as I aged became a Brazilian, with a pee-nut challenge..

Crazy is as crazy does. That's for sure. I don't know where you get your ideas from, those which prompt your mental meanderings where you get lost in obscure and untrodden paths of words. I missed any connectin with Halloween ....

Oh yeah, Halloween. Isn't that reserved for spooky stories? That is what this was for me. Oh, well, I went where I was led by the guy in charge at night, and I continued it come sunrise.
Sorry, to disappoint but hope you enjoyed it a little.

"Crazy is what crazy does" for sure, and it's certainly so unpredictable to those outside the realm of madness. Lost on the way to almost anywhere. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

I hid in the woods this morning when alerted by a neighbor some men with an ambulance had nets in hand seemingly on a search for an escapee from an asylum. Hmm. Did you call 911?
-
Never, brother, I'd be afraid they might come across me first. :-)

Lost on the way to the Atlantic City FanStory International Convention, by any chance?
magnificent seven - hah!
And I had no idea Snow White was Jewish. Silly me.
Good luck in the contest.

Do I
Need a
Comma for
Less than magnificent, seven or hyphens less-than-magnificent seven
As
For
Their faiths they couldn't agree
And needed
An alternative 😎
-
I saw no comma issue. I was thinking that you made a tongue-in-cheek reference to the western move 'The Magnificent Seven'.
-
It was such a reference, but as an afterthought mused whether there should or could be a comma to further clarify.

I enjoy stepping into your (shall we say) unique perspectives on all kinds of matters from sociological theory to Grimm's fairytales. An active mind with a vivid imagination is always a great combination and your "meanderings" frequently get me thinking!
One little error: "(I fear using the term midgit as it might offend someone)" -- (The spelling is "midget")
Even as a child, I asked my parents, "And THEN what happened?" --
This kind of inquisitive mind is CLEARLY the sign of genius...don't you think?

By the way, did you see the follow-up because someone in the mid 19c beat me to my mindly thoughts. It's an interesting read. http://www.pitt.edu/~dash/dwarfs.html

No! Did you post it? I thought I'd find it in the author's notes!

I enjoyed your version of this story here Tom, especially those dwarfs not bothering to wash except when they are going to church, what a laugh! You gave this story some nuts and bolds of reality here that portrayed it as a horror story! I love inventiveness, love Dolly x x x
