Haha! I wondered where this was leading and you save your reveal to the very last line! A lovely, very readable and enjoyable verse with excellent monorhymes making this flow well. Good luck, Karen! Debbie

This was a fun little Halloween poem, with an unexpected twist. The artwork was perfect. It looked like Zombie's trying to get in, and I love me some Zombies.
God bless,
Steve

Zombies never scared me at all. They couldn't run as fast as us, and, To kill them, just lop off their heads. Thanks for the read, Karen
-
Right, they're just a little hungry, is all.
My pleasure, Karen.
-
Why don't they nibble on each other? :-)
-
Heh, heh! Maybe they do.

Thanks so much for the read. Debbie told me that she read there was a rash of people buying The trump mask with the bloody ear and gauze. It should come with a donation to Planned Parenthood ot "now"! :-)

I like it, being an Australian I do feel for the American people, our leaders here are much younger, less senile, and I think have less self-importance,
they do criticize each other though again with less hate, you do have a scary choice****kahpot

Even if I didn't detest trump with every fiber of my being, I would still have voted for Kamala. It is way way past time for a female president. :-)

I wondered what caused such a fear of the front door. It was a very amusing person, although you may have hurt some feelings as there are many devoted Trumpers on here. The rest of the world must think our method of choosing a leader is crazy.

I think if you have been president, and run for a second term and lost. That's it. No more political office. I think if you have lawsuits against you, or have been arrested on multiple felonies, you do not get any office. We should be putting our best and brightest in the office. And, only those who are willing to to go fight in the war, get to vote whether or not we fight.
MOO( My own opinion) Karen

Well, you probably don't have a chance in this contest because it's political, but at least you said what you wanted to say and got that off your chest.
If someone came to my door with a Trump mask on, I wouldn't give them any candy. Maybe a scolding.
Thanks for sharing.

Bad trump ( trump is always in small letters as he derserves no capitals) masks rate full size candy bars, and regular trump masks get a couple of individually wrapped prunes. :-)

Hope Joker is not behind this invasion! Oh, just neighborhood kids. Just go down to Family dollar and pay your $725 dollars for 79 cents of 1950s candy. It's only once a year.

Oh MAN!
That final line sealed the deal for me!
We don't get many trick-or-treater kiddos these days, but I see those darn Trump Masks everywhere.
That IS a horror!
Remember when we were kids and were thrilled to dress in those cheap little costumes with that hard plastic mask that cut into our scalp?
Those were the days!

For the most part we made our own costumes. Ghosts, hobo's, cowboys, mummies, I was Frankenstein once. Finella Dowd from next door, was a tenage girl very into makeup. She put some black food coloring into her liquid makeup, and to make me a grayed out mix up body parts she added blush here and there, used her eye liner to draw on stitches here and there. She also glued on thick erasers on my neck, that lasted through the evening. And all I was allowed to do was growl the word "TREAT" while trick or treating. She had fun and so did I. And, yes one year I saved up for an "Official Wonder Women" costume. That mask bit into my tender skin, and I bore no real resemblance at all to the character, since I resembled a completley flat 2x4 a lot more closely, but in my heart I was a real female hero! Them were the days. :-)

Hmmm. I suppose these days we couldn't call them Hobo's... perhaps "Unhoused" or "Housing Insecure?"
I saw on TV that some are going as "Trumps Ear"-- complete with blood and a gauze pad. Yew.
I'd prefer all politics stayed out of the children's holiday, such as it is...

Karen, I know that feeling. The picture you've chosen for the poem is perfect and says it all. We don't see any trick or treaters here in the retirement community where we live, but I miss them coming by. Times have changed, sadly, as the kids go to gatherings at church and school more, visiting each lighted doorway less, not like we did when we were kids. Too dangerous. I loved the last line, frightening. :-) Happy Halloween. Be safe. Frank

I miss the kiddies I really do. I miss the innocence of when I was little. Kids these days get way too much reality way too soon. Thanks for the read. Karen

You're very welcome.

Yes, just having to see Trump masks at your front door should be enough to scare anyone. It hasn't rained in 5-weeks where I live, but guess what? Halloween night it's suppose to rain. Poor little kiddies. Thanks for sharing.

Do you get many kids? I don't. I miss when my kids were little. My husband would walk with the kids, I would hand out candy. I was all dressed up. He wasn't. One year he was. but he was so big he scared the kids.
Nice to see you Handsome. Karen

I used to get dress up to hand out candy, the highlight of my year. I would get so many children I couldn't hardly take care of them all. But the last three years or so, they've cut way back. Happy Halloween! Ric
